High School basketball season is here, I wanted to see the #3 ranked prospect in the country, [player_tooltip player_id="533735" first="Jalen" last="Green"] play with his new team Prolific Prep in Napa CA. In the past the prep school has produced a couple of McDonald’s All American Players. Josh Jackson 2016, Gary Trent 2017, and Jordan Brown 2018. I know it was his first game, but if Green and his new teammates. Top 25 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="533736" first="Nimari" last="Burnett"], Coleman Hawkins (Illinois), and a new prospect I’m seeing for the first time 2021, 6’10 Frank Anselem (Georgia Stars 16U) play to their potential, I don’t see any reason why Green won’t be the next Prolific Prep prospect to get invited to the All American Game.

On past teams Green might have been willing and able to carry the scoring load, but with Burnett, the 6’4 point guard who can facilitate, and create his own shots, that frees Green up for more opportunities to roam the outside, and it creates more spacing for him to score on drives, knock down jump shots, and long range 3’s, all of which he can do with some consistency. I think Green is a better fit at the two guard, but he did show his combo skills, bringing the ball up on occasion with Burnett in the game giving him an opportunity to showcase his skills. The 6’5 guard is an underrated passer, he has good court awareness and vision, he found Hawkins cutting to the basket several times for dunks and layups and Anselem with good post entry passes. In transition he made long and strong passes to Burnett in the corner for 3’s, and rewarded Hawkins and Anselem (the big fellas) with nice passes for running the court.

Overall I think Green is in a good place to showcase his skills, not only his shooting/scoring but with the help of his new teammates, I think he has an opportunity to show other areas of his game that might get overlooked. A long wiry frame at 6’5, he can now show his ability to defend and get rebounds. I’m looking forward to seeing him show all of his skills.

Other notable Nor Cal Prospects I observed that play on the prep schools other teams in Napa CA.

[player_tooltip player_id="766841" first="Jordan" last="Pope"] 2022 point guard Prolific Prep
The young prospect made his debut coming off the bench, he did a good job of running the offense and he hit some long 3 point shots. A solid debut for one of Nor Cal’s top 2022 point guard prospects.

Chance McMillan 6’3 2020 combo guard, GSP Black
Always competes, has good ability when it comes to attacking the rim, continues to be a solid defender with good lateral speed.

Iniko McNeil 6’0 2020 point guard, GSP Black
Floor leader runs the offense, has improved ball handling skills and passing, attacks the basket with more consistency.

Malcolm Steadman 6’5 2020 wing, GSP Grey
Noticeable improvement with his outside shooting, he knocked down 3’s with good shooting form and confidence. Has added some muscle.

Victor Rajkovic 6’4 2020 wing, GSP Grey
Consistent shooter from the outside. His drives to the basket are improving, and he has added muscle. Foot speed is improving.
