From schools like Ridgeline to schools like Hurricane. 4A has produced some good talented players that have landed across the country playing basketball at different levels. This year is no different as we see that 4A teams across the state can compete with a lot of schools regardless of classification. The difference that we see this year is not that there isn’t talent because there is, the difference is that 6A and 5A schools are not scheduling these 4A programs because it damages their RPI regardless if they win.
These impact players will play a major role in team success:
Sr. Mason Falslev 6’4 G Sky View (Signed University of Utah)
He was held to under double digits twice last year (Olympus, Juan Diego). The University of Utah signee is special. He doesn’t need to score to help him team win. He is a great passer and rebounds and pushes the ball with high IQ. Last season he put up 24 points per game. He also tailed 7 rebounds and 5 assist. He will compete for Mr. Basketball.
Jr. Isaac Finlinson 6’2 G Dixie
This kid is as crafty as they come. He isn’t bulky or extremely strong but what Isaac has going for him is his smarts. He makes some impressive plays with his decision making, Defensively he gets in lanes and on offense he really plays with his head up scanning the floor.
Jr. Matt Rohden 6’5 W Juan Diego
With a strong frame and the ability to shoot Matt puts a lot of pressure on defenses as he is able to stretch the floor with the long ball. Inside he has great footwork and can go over both shoulders. His ball handling is improved as is his decision making.
Sr. Mason Chase 6’4 G Desert Hills
Having a wing that can jump out of the gym and guard multiple positions is fantastic at any level but Mason is one of those players that can defend and play multiple positions. He is a problem in the open court as he runs well and attacks the glass.
Jr. Justin Rodgers 6’6 Tooele
Justin out up 14 points a game last season and look for this versatile strong forward to get his average up to at least 18 with his ability to read defenses and finish with strength around the rim. Adding a 3-point shot could really help him and his team as he only hit 10 a season ago.
Sr. Jared Sudweeks Pine View
Jared will be one of 4 returning Pine View players that averaged nine points or more. Jared put up 65 three-pointers last season which is impressive. Finding other ways to score could be the key to a long run in the post-season
Sr. Mark Huber 5’11 Bear River
Mark can shoot the long ball but he finds other ways to score as well. He can put up a quick 20 points without hitting one three-pointer. Bear River will rely a lot on Mark in the scoring column.Mark put up an impressive 20 points per game last season
