With public schools beginning play this week, we can now officially say that basketball season is back! Let’s take a look at a few of the players and storylines that have already caught our attention this week as teams are beginning to show what they are made of.

Kinston HS Star 2021 Wing Dontrez Styles didn’t waste any time as he finished with 24 points & 13 Rebounds against West Carteret. Styles is a player that has already picked up some ACC level offers and should only see his stock increase as time goes on if he continues to play well.

Trinity Christian is off to a good start and they picked up a nice performance from 2022 Guard Freddie Dillione as he scored 22 Points in their win Tuesday night. The upside of Dillione is clear, if he can play with a high motor consistently, the sky is the limit for how good he can possibly be.

We told you all to keep an eye on the Richmond County Raiders this year and game one of the season is just a glimpse as they were absolutely dominant throughout. 2021 Forward Nygie Stroman led the way for his squad with 18 points, Stroman is a player than can finish inside the paint as well as extend to the perimeter to stretch a defense.

Scotland County 2020 PG Garrett McRae is a player that we felt would have a big time season this year and he’s off to a good start. Mcrae finished with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assist in a loss to Union Pines on Tuesday, and college coaches will want to make a trip to see Garrett without a doubt. He’s a PG that can score it well, knows how to run a team and is an outstanding student academically.

Clayton HS Guard/Forward BJ Freeman put on a show in their matchup against Corinth Holders as he finished with 35 points. Freeman can play the SG and SF spots but also does a nice job of battling inside with opposing bigs by using his strength.

Lumberton HS 2020 Guard Jordan McNeill finished with 21 points in their win over Red Springs, Mcneill is a player that has already picked up D2 offers and should see his stock continue to rise. We love the fact that he can rebound the ball at a very high level from the guard spot to go along with impressive scoring ability.

Northwood Temple 2020 Forward Reggie Raynor had a big time game on Tuesday night as he went for 31 points. The 6’5 Forward has picked up some really good D2 offers from schools such as: Queens, Mount Olive and Catawba, he’s athletic with the ability to rebound at a high level as well.
