Conference Breakdowns: 4A Mountain Northwest

<p>In anticipation of the start of the High School Season, we will be breaking down the various 4A conferences in the state. In this article, we will be taking a look at the Mountain Northwest. MVP and all-conference team selections are based on last season's production and this season's potential. </p> <p><em>Conference Champs:</em> <strong>Arbor View</strong> - The Aggies went 10-2 in conference last season, but their two losses were to Centennial. They return UNLV commit <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/donavan-yap/">Donavan Yap</a> (#5 2020), and big man <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jaylon-lee/">Jaylon Lee (#14 2020)</a>. In addition to that, they should get a boost from the emergence of <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/mikey-medlock/">Mikey Medlock</a>, the addition of Noah Do, and the athleticism of <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/larry-holmes/">Larry Holmes</a> (#29 2020).</p> <p><em>MVP:</em> <strong>Donavan Yap 6'2 SG Arbor View 2020 (#5 2020)</strong> - Clear choice here, Yap is an electric scorer. He averaged 15ppg on a senior-led squad last season. I'm anticipating an even better year from him this season.</p> <p><em>Top Unsigned Senior:</em> <strong>Kade Madsen 6'2 SG Palo Verde (#18)</strong></p> <p><em>Top Underclassmen:</em> <strong>Shane Thomas 6'3 SG Centennial 2022 (#8 2022)</strong></p> <p><em>Sleeper:</em> (Tie) <strong>Mikey Medlock 6'2 SG Arbor View 2020</strong> <strong>(#52 2020)</strong> <strong>Robert Sherman 6'1 SG Centennial 2020 (#51 2020)</strong></p> <p><em>Sleeper Team:</em> <strong>Palo Verde</strong> - They return 4 starters from last year's team. They have a stud in Madsen, one of the top bigs in the conference in <a href="https://prephoops.com/player/harlan-nichols/">Harlan Nichols</a> (#36 2020) and several outside shooters.</p> <p><em>Game of the year:</em> <strong>1/24/20 Arbor View vs Centennial</strong> - It's gotta bug the Aggies that they didn't beat Centennial last year.
