While the last-minute move from muti – court Hoop City to the single court facility at Phase 1, made for a longer day. It was great for me as I got the opportunity to evaluate several players in a single game session.
- The Chosen Few vs the LV Panthers provided a preview of the future of H.S Basketball in Nevada. – That game featured 4 sure-fire prospects including several other players with an opportunity to have a bright future. Elijah Aden 5’11 PG 2024 Chosen Few, had a silky smooth game. He showed the ability to easily separate from defenders and even split a few traps. Anthony Nwuli 6’5 PF 2024 LV Panthers Has a chance to be one of the top post players in the state. I was pleasantly surprised by his ability to deliver on time on target passes from the high post.
- There were several intriguing Post prospects – In addition to the aforementioned Nwuli, Zander Ruggeroli 6’4 C Vegas Elite 2024 is also an intriguing prospect. He’s a lot rawer than Nwuli, however he is a big physical post who showed the ability to grab rebounds at a high rate. Derail Beverly 6’2 PF LV Blue Jays 2025 also proved to be a post prospect to watch. A long gangly athlete, he showed decent hands and a good understanding of P&R basketball
- Niko Canencia 5’4 PG Legacy 2023 earned his way onto the updated rankings list. – The reality is with so many players to watch, some guys are going to go under the radar. Especially 5’6 Point Guards, however, Canencia instantly got on my radar with his performance. It wasn’t simply the numbers, as much as his demonstration of how to play the position. Several times he drew two and hit the open man. He controlled the tempo, and protected the ball. Not sure where he’ll land, but he proved that he belongs somewhere in the C/O 2023.
