The 2019-20 boys basketball season starts all across the state and today let's take a quick look at the 3A level with our pre-season top five and the projected All-State Team.

Pre-Season Top Five

1. Santiam Christian
2. De La Salle North
3. Amity
4. Catlin Gabel
5. Salem Academy

Analysis: Is this the year that someone can snatch the title away from De La Salle North? If there's anyone that can do it, Santiam Christian can. The Eagles have the size and experience to get it done, and a big matchup between the two schools on December 6 could be a preview of the title game. It's not just a two-horse race though as last season's runner-up, Amity, will be back and Catlin Gabel and Salem Academy lead the way for a whole host of other teams that could make waves. Don't count out Dayton too.

All-State Predictions

George Sadi, De La Salle North (POY)
Koby Williamson, Santiam Christian
Josh Baugher, Santiam Christian
Josh Wart, Amity
Jett Sheng, Catlin Gabel

Analysis: Sadi is one of the top athletic talents in the entire state, regardless of classification, and is a good bet to be named player of the year for the second year in a row. Baugher and Wart both received honors last season as sophomores and are even better for their junior seasons. Williamson is arguably the top big man in 3A and Sheng is a high-academic performer ready to lead Catlin Gabel to the state tournament.
