At 6’2, Conklin likes to play fast, can create his own shot and can knock down outside shots. He can handle the ball a little and works hard at the defensive end of the court.
Conklin split time throughout the offseason playing for the KC Fury and working out in the weight room and improving his all-around game on the court,
“For the beginning of summer I played for KC Fury, then I worked to improve myself in the weight room and on the court,” he says. “I wanted to improve my strength so I can be more versatile on the court.”
After falling short of a post season run a year ago, Conklin says the expectations are high this year at Bishop Miege.
“Last year didn’t end the way we liked to,” Conklin said. “Our goal is always to win the state championship. We worked very hard to achieve that. The expectations for this year is to win state.
“I want to better myself from last year anyway I can.”
Conklin says his family has had the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“They push me to be the best player possible,” he said.
A fan of Memphis point guard Ja Morant, the Warriors’ Steph Curry, Conklin says he tries to take various aspects of both player’s game and make it his own.
“Ja Morant and Stephen Curry are two players that I try and model my game after the way they have changed the game,” he said. “I like Steph because he can make a shot from anywhere and create one out of nothing. Ja can shoot but he can do so much with his explosive ability.”
