Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at the upcoming season in the Arkansas Valley-Chisholm Trail Conference (AVCTL).

Teams

Campus Colts (18-5, 11-2)

Derby Panthers (7-15, 3-9)

Hutchinson (5-18, 0-12)

Maize (24-1, 12-0)

Newton (12-12, 7-6)

Salina Central (17-6, 8-5)

Salina South (8-13 last year, 3-9)

[player_tooltip player_id="730629" first="Jacob" last="Hanna"], 6’4, G, 2021, Maize

Hannah didn’t get much varsity run with Maize last season, but is coming off a big summer running with NLHA and showed he is ready for a breakout junior season. He is a long, rangy guard who can play above the rim and excels in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id="885547" first="Jacob" last="Karsak"], 6’2. G, 2020, Derby

A standout perimeter shooter, Karsak is also a standout football player who excels for the Panthers at tight end. On the hardwood he brings good toughness and a well-rounded skill set. He is a strong defender who can guard multiple positions and brings the toughness of a football standout to the hardwood.

[player_tooltip player_id="889493" first="Caden" last="Kickhaefer"], 6’3, G/F, 2021, Salina Central

Kickhaefer has largely played in the shadows of a talented senior class that graduated in 2019 but he will be counted on for a big season in 2019-20. He has a smooth outside shooting stroke, likes to shoot from distance out of the corners and has a well-rounded skill set. He can handle the ball a little and gets in the passing lanes defensively where he is able to take advantage of his length.

[player_tooltip player_id="942460" first="Alex" last="Krogmeier"], 6’3, G/F, 2020, Newton

One of the top returning shooters in the AVCTL, Korgmeier had several big games shooting from the perimeter last season, including five 3-pointers against Salina Central in February. He has good size and length and has a smooth, repeatable shooting stroke. With the loss of 2020 guard [player_tooltip player_id="530356" first="Ty" last="Berry"], Krogmeier will be counted on in other areas this season as well, whether it’s handling the ball, rebounding or playing tough defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="891920" first="Amari" last="Thomas"], 6’4, F, 2022, Derby

Thomas is a standout perimeter shooter who can get hot and light up the scoreboard from distance, but also brings good size, athleticism and the ability to impact a game in a variety of ways. He is a strong rebounder, a good defender and has the ability to score in the paint. He enters the upcoming season as one of the better young players in the AVCTL.
