<p>It is October and that means its only days away from season opening games. Let’s take a dive into the various districts, and begin previewing teams and players to watch! Today we dive into the 6A-III District 19!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Pre-Season Player of the Year:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>LJ Cryer</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is the top 2020 prospect in the Greater Houston area, and is also a Top 5 player in the state of Texas. He can score the ball at all three levels, as well as get his teammates involved in the game. Plays great on-ball defense and is a great leader. LJ is committed to attend Baylor University next season and is the returning MVP from last season for the 19th District. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Team to Beat:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Morton Ranch Mavericks is the team to beat this year in district 19. They have two Nationally touted prospects in seniors </span><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>LJ Cryer</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> a 27.5 points per game scorer and </span><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Eddie Lampkin</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> an Texas Christian University commit and was a double-double machine with 14.2 points per game and 10.6 rebounds per game,  plus a great cast around them in fellow senior running mates <span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Westley Sellers</strong></span> and <span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Adrian Caldwell</strong></span>. They have a new transfer student that gives them another presence down low. Last year they went 28-7 overall and 14-0 in district play. They look to go further than the 3rd round of the playoffs this year. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Biggest Threat:</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mayde Creek should be the second best team in the district and will be the threat of the district. Last season they finished 3rd place in the district with a 5-7 district record, and qualified for the playoffs were they fell in the first round and finished 21-15 overall. They will be led by senior guard <span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Rommel Williams</strong></span> who has three NCAA D2 offers on the table right now. Physical point who can control the floor at which ever tempo he chooses to play at.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Top Prospects to Watch</span> [Last Season Awards]</strong></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Braedon Edison</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’3 SF Jr. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Cinco Ranch</span></i></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Jayden Collymore</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’4 SF Sr. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Cinco Ranch</span></i></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Jake Arnold</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’2 SG Jr. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Katy Taylor</span></i></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Rommell Williams</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’1 PG Jr. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mayde Creek </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/texas/rankings/2020-rankings/"><span style="color: #ff6600;">PH</span><span style="color: #ff9900;">TX</span><span style="color: #ff0000;">150</span></a> [All-District 1st Team]</strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>LJ Cryer</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’0 PG Jr. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Morton Ranch </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="color: #008000;"><strong>(Baylor)</strong></span> <strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/texas/rankings/2020-rankings/"><span style="color: #ff6600;">PH</span><span style="color: #ff9900;">TX</span><span style="color: #ff0000;">150</span></a></strong><strong> [District MVP]</strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Eddie Lampkin</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’10 C Jr. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Morton Ranch </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><span style="color: #800080;">(Texas Christian)</span> <a href="https://prephoops.com/texas/rankings/2020-rankings/"><span style="color: #ff6600;">PH</span><span style="color: #ff9900;">TX</span><span style="color: #ff0000;">150</span></a> [All-District 1st Team]</strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Westley Sellers</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’2 G Jr. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Morton Ranch </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/texas/rankings/2020-rankings/"><span style="color: #ff6600;">PH</span><span style="color: #ff9900;">TX</span><span style="color: #ff0000;">150</span></a></strong></span><strong> [Def MVP]</strong></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Adrian Caldwell</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’3 WF Jr. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Morton Ranch </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/texas/rankings/2020-rankings/"><span style="color: #ff6600;">PH</span><span style="color: #ff9900;">TX</span><span style="color: #ff0000;">150</span></a></strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Johnny Miller</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’2 SG Sr. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Seven Lakes</span></i></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Brian “BB” Knight</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’2 SG So. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tompkins </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong><a href="https://prephoops.com/texas/rankings/2022-rankings/"><span style="color: #ff6600;">PH</span><span style="color: #ff9900;">TX</span><span style="color: #ff0000;">25</span></a> [Newcomer]</strong></span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Jason Clark</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 6’4 F So. </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tompkins</span></i></p> <p><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Isaiah Batte</strong></span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> 5’11 PG Sr.</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Mayde Creek</span></i></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Top Contenders</span></p> <ol> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Morton Ranch</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mayde Creek</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Cinco Ranch</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Katy Taylor</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Katy Tompkins</span></li> </ol>
