Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.
3 — Jabari Brickhouse, 6’0, G, 2020, Blue Valley West, KC Pacers White
Brickhouse is an underrated guard out of Kansas City who has put together a strong offseason running with the KC Pacers. On Friday, he helped his team to an opening round win over Kansas Grind Elite, showcasing a well-rounded offensive game and a competitive edge at the defensive end of the court. He is capable of getting to the basket and finishing around the rim and has a nice mid-range game.
15-Nick Bonner, 6’2, 2020, Derby, Kansas MTXE 17U
Bonner is great in transition and can cruise to the basket and lay up with one hand near the rim. He has a nice basketball frame and can get a step on defenders and go weak side for the finish. He’s a flexible player when he drives the paint he proved his deep game is just as strong.
13-Darrin Battiste, 5’11, 2020, Junction City, SSA Elite 17U White
A physical point guard who has nice handles and a good feel for the floor. He pushes his way through defenders and keeps an eye for openings to pass and shoot. He had several strong cross court passes that found his teammate wide open for an easy look. Also a good shooter himself. One who can pull it back or drive to the basket and finish.
3-Cameron Heiman, 5’8, 2020, Northern Heights, SSA Elite 17U White
A shorter guard who has great speed and a nice jumper. He shoots a high percentage shot 10 feet from the basket and in. He likes to get close and plays defense a similar fashion. He gets close and moves his feet and directs them to corners and makes them use their weaker hand to dribble.
3-Cade Gollier, 6’0, 2020, Ottawa, Grandstand Elite
Gollier has better size than first meets the eye. He stays inside the arc for the most part. He looks to make soft passes and drive and pull up and knock down short jumpers. He can also shoot the 3, but he drives more often and makes the extra pass.
