Summer Roundup: Underrated (2020)

Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.

0 — Makye Loggins, 6’0, G, 2020, Wichita South, NLHA Silmon. @LogginsMakye

Loggins impressed this summer with a calm, cool demeanor and terrific leadership skills. He is a solid all-around point guard who can handle the ball, get his team into its offensive sets and plays a tough, determined brand of basketball at both ends of the floor. Loggins showed the ability to knock down open shots and has a smooth mid-range game, able to pull up off the bounce and knock down tough jumpers.

3-Eric Davis Jr., 6’0, 2020, Wichita East, Kansas MTXE 17U

Davis Jr. has a great rhythm to his game. He has good handles and works his way around defenders with his quickness and skill. He can shoot well from the mid-range and sometimes from behind the line. He is great with the ball in his hands and the team plays their best with him in center court.

0-Walzel Evans, 6’0, G, 2020, JC Harmon

Evans finishes plays well on offense in transition and showed he can slash at times and get close to the basket and shoot. Evans is a tough player who fights through physicality. He stays strong on defense and can poke the ball away and keep opponents thinking about protecting the ball.

.12 — John Roeder, 5’11, G, 2020, Topeka Hayden SSA Elite Black

He’s not very big at 5’11, but Roeder has some surprising hops and can get off the floor. He is at his best spotting up off the ball, but showed the ability to do a little bit of everything in Thursday’s action. He uses his athleticism well, can rebound a little and works hard at the defensive end.

Isaiah Johnson, 5’10 G, 2020, Shawnee Hoggs, Kansas Hoggs

A nice player who can handle the ball and play off it when he needs to. He is a team-first player who prides himself for his ability to get his teammates open looks. He is consistent around the perimeter and shoots well when he has an open look and is feeling confident.
