Summer Roundup: Top Facilitators (2022/23)

Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.

5 — Fontaine Williams Jr., 6’0, G, 2022, Wichita East, MoKan Elite 2022

An impressive guard with good size, speed and all-around athleticism. He moves well with the ball in his hands and knows how to distribute well for his age. He has great vision and can operate in a variety of ways with and without the ball. He can shoot well and finds a way to get open looks.

23 — Mozae Downing-Rivers, 6’1, G, 2022, Free State, KC Run GMC 15U. @mo_xxiii

Downing is a strong, physical point guard who brings combination of toughness at the defensive end, and a calm, cool demeanor at the offensive end. He has a nice pull-up jumper from the mid-range and likes to get into the lane and make plays for his teammates. An unselfish floor general-type, Downing has a good feel for floor space and makes smart, timely passes as he helps direct the Run GMC offense.

0-Jameer Clemons, 5’10, G, 2022, Derby, NLHA 15 Perez

Another guard for NLHA 15 Perez who moves well off the ball and can create looks for himself and teammates. He has good vision and the athleticism to take advantage of match ups and get inside and score around the basket. A smart overall player who keeps his team plan on point.

14 — Whitley Cooper, 5’11, PG, 2022, Olathe South, Team KC Black @Cooperwhitley_6

We really like Cooper’s game — he is a crafty point guard who handles it well and can run an offense, and showed the ability to break down opponents off the bounce and create offense for his team. He is a pass first player who can also score when necessary and is a capable outside shooter who is a consistent threat from behind the stripe.

43-Jason Rodriguez, 5’10, G, 2023, Bishop Miege, Drive 5

A smart guard who can handle the ball and makes solid passes inside. He is great in transition and shows the ability to put his head down and get to the basket. He brings a lot of hustle to the floor and is a terrific defender and can come away with the ball and finish plays on the opposite end.
