The Eagles finished the season with a 29-4 record, losing to eventual State Champions Columbia Academy in the state semifinals. It is impossible to overstate McClaran’s contribution to the team in his junior season.
Widely recognized as the top scorer in the district, McClaran took on a new challenge in the summer of 2019. He joined the Tennessee Tigers , one of the top unaffiliated AAU programs in the state. It helped him play with and against better and bigger athletes.
“He definitely benefited from the high level of competition and athleticism he faces this summer with the TN Tigers,’ said father and Eagleville High School Head Coach Davy McClaran. “His speed picked up and he grew about an inch and is now at 6’3”. Coach (Chip) Smith was great for him to play for and he was surrounded by an awesome group of athletes.”
Thank you @tigers950 for giving me the opportunity to play at such a high level. Can’t put into words how thankful I am. No doubt the best AAU organization around. This team was special this year. Also would like to think @coles1851 @tntiger615 @CeeLo_12 you guys are the best!! pic.twitter.com/KZzsJ1WPo0

After the AAU season wrapped, Ryley camped with Ole Miss and Tennessee Tech.
The recruiting followed.
AAU evaluations came from Martin Methodist, Freed Hardeman, Alabama Huntsville and Arkansas Fort Smith.
Mid-September Ryley McClaran (Eagleville) earned an offer.
“Ryley received a full scholarship offer today from Florida College,” said Eagleville Head Coach Davy McClaran.
Florida College hosted him on campus.
“I want to thank Coach Todd and Coach Teichmann for having me on campus today,” tweeted Ryley. “I had a great time!! Truly blessed to received [sic] my first scholarship offer from Florida College!!”
Florida College offered two Class of 2019 players in middle Tennessee, Deron Perry and Elijah Cobb. Both players starred for Riverdale High School. Ultimately, Deron Perry selected and signed to Florida College.
Ryley will gain more interest throughout the season. Though he is allowed to sign in November playing out his senior season could net him “bigger” offers and more looks.
