Recruiting Report: Louis Fidler (2020)
Six-foot-3 Louis Fidler provided nine points and five boards a game for a 26-2 Bellevue West last winter. What did he do for an encore? Had a strong 17u season with Team Factory.
“Playing with Team Factory has helped me tremendously on and off the court,” Fidler said. “On the court playing with most of these guys for two years now really made us bond together and make us into a family, and those bonds also translated off the court, and we are all very good friends.
“For me as a player always playing against that high level competition and getting everybody’s best while playing has helped me grow and become a better player.”
Fidler grew in several ways playing with Team Factory. It’s a program that played most of their games on the UA Rise tour and the Prep Hoops Circuit.
“The games this summer made me into more of a leader and that is going to help a lot going into the high school season,” Fidler said. “Off the court I was in the gym at least 4-5 times a week getting 300-350 shots up, and working on my game.”
Expectations at Bellevue West are usually big. This year won’t be any different so Fidler so he and his teammates are already fully engaged with 2019-20 preparations.
“We are currently lifting weights five days a week, condition three of those five days, and play open gym the other two. We are wanting to win state, but this year it is going to be a grind with teams like Millard North, Central, and Omaha South coming back with very solid teams.”
Another part of Fidler’s fall is working on his college basketball future. Does he stay local? Or does he head east for college?
“I’m hearing from Merrimack, a division one program up near Boston, Emporia State, and most of the NAIA schools in the area I am in.”
