What schools are in contact with Elliot after he led Arkansas Athletes Outreach to an 11-2 record in the Grind Region and impressed a nice list of college programs along the way.
“I’m hearing the most from Harding, SouthWest Baptist, Rogers State ,MIT, and Carnegie Mellon,” Paschal said last week. “I have a visit at MIT next weekend and then Harding in October. The other schools have said they would like me for a visit we just haven’t worked out when.”
Elliot takes his basketball career very seriously and he wants a school that will do the same with him.
“I really just want to go to a place that competes. Somewhere that takes what they do serious and is invested in their players.”
AAO basketball had a lot of successes this spring and summer with Paschal playing a big role in nearly every win. He was a big part of a team chemistry that extended well beyond the court.
“For AAO it starts off the floor,” Paschal said. “Basketball is just a way for us to help with our discipline and character. But it builds on top of that because we are all so competitive with each other.
“Coach Unruh understood that and helped push the competitive atmosphere which really allowed us to be very good. Personally it helped me because I hate losing and playing with such good guys naturally leads to improvement.
There was a lot of motivation in the way that Eliot took the floor each game with AAO.
“Every time I stepped on the floor I knew I was going to have to bring it or I’d get embarrassed. I think the first time we played Buddy Buckets, they killed us by like 25. That was one of our first tournaments and from then on I knew that it was going to be a tough road.
“Also, just the skill level and physicality. It grew a lot from 16U and helped me understand that if I want to compete at the next level, I’m gonna have to have a great work ethic in the weight room as well as on the court developing skill.”
Paschal averaged 12-13 a game last winter shooting 50 percent from the field and making nearly 80 percent of his foul shots. The numbers should be even more efficient his senior year. That said, Elliot just cares about leaving the right legacy.
“I want to go out with a bang. My goal is best player in 6A West. But overall just a hard worker who was a leader on and off the court.”
