At 6’5, Jones is a strong all-around performer who does a little bit of everything at a high level. He can handle the ball, is a terrific defender and can score in a variety of ways. He is coming off a strong sophomore season in which he averaged more than 10 points and five rebounds per game.
He spent the offseason running with MoKan Elite 16U squad and the Kansas Players.
“Both teams are on a high circuit with the top players in the country,” he said. ‘Playing against them is gonna help me be more aggressive and want to grind to be one of the top players in thecountry myself.”
He says he has been working on becoming more aggressive and working towards taking over games when necessary.
“I also think adding more ball handling will help me,” Jones said. “My personal goals are to win state and have a few offers by the end of my junior season.”
Jones says his dad and older brother have had the biggest impacts on his basketball career to date.
“They’ve been pushing me since I started to only focus on basketball in the fifth grade and told me that if I quit playing football,” he said. “I had to take basketball way more serious and focus on what I should do to get to the next level.”
A fan of Paul George, Jones appreciates his ability to impact a game at both ends of the floor.
“He’s my favorite player and that’s because he can play both ends he can guard the best player on the other team and will create plays on the offensive end,” Jones said. “What I implement from my game to his is to be a shot creator and create more for self and still not be to selfish and to be able lead in steals.”
Jones says he has heard from several Division I and Division II programs, including Colorado, Utah state, Bradley, Belmont, WSU, Nebraska-Omaha, Washburn, Air Force, Emporia State and Rockhurst.
