A 5’11 guard, Washington brings a smooth and controlled game to the floor and says his best part of his game is his mid-range.
Washington says running with Freedom Hoops helped prepare him for the upcoming season as he worked on his ball handling and finishing in the lane.
“We played in a lot of competitive tournaments which has pushed me to elevate my game,” Washington says. “They prepared me to stand up to the challenge of facing skilled guards during hs season.”
A year ago Lincoln College Prep had some ups and downs, but Washington said it was a good learning experience for him and his teammates.
Washington says his family has had the biggest impact on his basketball career to date.
“I play it because it is a big passion of mine and my family has always supported me in it,” he says. “God has blessed me to be able to play this game so I try not to take it for granted and work hard.”
A fan of college basketball, Washington says he appreciates the fundamental aspects of the game at the NCAA level.
“There is so much raw talent coming in to a college then you get to see them become more polished and smart players from when they were in high school,” he said. “College is basketball is so demanding mentally and physically and they don’t even get paid for their efforts.
“So it’s fun to watch how they still focus on the game and be mentally tough to stay locked in through a whole season. Plus, mental toughness and focus is more of what I want to implement into my game on and off the court.”
