Preseason Player of the Year: 2020 [player_tooltip player_id="955237" first="Goanar" last="Biliew"], Denison-Schleswig

Biliew may have been the single biggest surprise in the state last year, putting together a monstrous 18.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.2 blocks season while shooting 68% from the floor. The 6-8 big man is athletic and has emerged as one of the best two-way players in the state. He’ll put up huge numbers for a Monarchs team that we expect to control this league and be one of the best teams in 3A this year.

First Team

2020 [player_tooltip player_id="955237" first="Goanar" last="Biliew"], Denison-Schleswig (18.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.2 blocks, 68.0 FG%)

Biliew is the leading returnee in the league in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots, and he did so while shooting an eye-popping 68% from the floor last year. An active, athletic and long big man, he’ll be a force on both ends of the floor this year for Denison-Schleswig.

2020 [player_tooltip player_id="801874" first="Charlie" last="Wiebers"], Denison-Schleswig (16.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 3.1 steals)

The other big piece of the Monarchs’ senior class is Wiebers, who led the conference in assists and steals last year in addition to his scoring prowess. He’ll pair with Biliew to give D-S the best tandem in the league.

2020 [player_tooltip player_id="721187" first="Zach" last="Carr"], Glenwood (16.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals)

After being a (very good) complimentary piece as a sophomore, Carr exploded last year as a junior, averaging 16.2 points a game and leading the Rams in assists and steals. With Christian Stanislav graduated, this is Carr’s team, and he is ready to deliver.

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="796117" first="Ryan" last="Blum"], Glenwood (13.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.0 blocks)

A talented combo forward capable of scoring inside and out, Blum’s 30 made 3-pointers last year rank fifth among returnees, and his 6.4 rebounds a game rank fourth.

2020 [player_tooltip player_id="801889" first="Tyler" last="Moen"], Atlantic (13.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.0 blocks)

Moen will be the go-to scorer for the Trojans this year following the graduation of Chase Mullenix. A 6-1 wing, he’s at his best when he’s playing downhill and getting to the rim. He led Atlantic in assists last year and contributed on the defensive end as well.
