Junior point guard John Windley is coming off a productive summer and pivoting into a productive autumn. The first weekend of October, the 6-foot-3 Brentwood High School guard will compete at Washington University (Mo) Elite Camp.

For what it is worth, Windley's older brother David is a sophomore with the Washington University Bears. Interestingly, Nolensville High superstar Nate Bloedorn just enrolled as a freshman on the same basketball team. John joining a potential team of David and Nate would make Tennessee troika. Currently, Washington University is led by Head Coach Pat Juckem.

Washington University is a Midwestern beacon of education.

Ten "Wash U" hoopers earned Academic All-American acclaim. More specifically, six different basketball players were named All-Americans whilst playing for Washington, a sprinkling of them became repeat winners.

Recruiting Activity

Windley, ranked #36 in the PrepHoopsTN Class of 2021 rankings, is an extremely attractive college basketball prospect. His most recent AAU program is WHBH 16u. There is one, pivotal year remaining in his AAU career.

Ideal positional height, consistent shot-making, commitment to winning, willing passer, and remarkable academic process all coalesce to make him Division 1 or High-Academic D3 dream recruit.

Who has noticed?

Windley camped with Emory University and they are ready to take him (sign him) next year. Columbia and Princeton both dropped by Brentwood High to evaluate the high-academic lead guard.

Earlier in the calendar year, John and his Brentwood Bruins team camped at Belmont University, University of Memphis, and Western Kentucky University.

The 2019 Brentwood Run

Brentwood made a fantastic postseason run in 2018-2019, advancing to the TSSAA State Tournament. The Bruins started: John Windley, Preston Moore, Harry Lackey, Cole Massey, Ben Mills.

Together the team defeated Oakland, 50-47, in the quarterfinal and dropped the semi to defending champions Memphis East. Facing Oakland, Windley hit the only three-pointer in the decisive overtime frame.

He was unable to follow it up with a great game against Memphis East, largely due to foul trouble.

This coming season Brentwood brings back a deep squad. Windley and Lackey will start again. Another postseason run is expected and John Windley is certain to be a dominating presence.
