Rob Martin 5’9″ CBC: A talented floor leader who was a starting point guard for the Cadets’ Class 5 state runner-up team as a freshman. He is an excellent facilitator who can get buckets from all three levels. He is at his best when operating in a pick-and-roll where he can knock down jumpers, turn the corner and drop dimes to his bigs for easy layups. He has good quickness and can really accelerate in the open court.
Cohl Vaden 5’10” Webb City: The small combo guard enjoyed a big summer with Victory Ministry while playing at all three age levels in July. He has good speed and quickness and proved to be a bucket during the month of July. He had some 30-point performances while raining down 3-pointers on the regular. He is poised for a big sophomore year while playing in a loaded Webb City backcourt.
Drenin Dinkins 5’10” South Iron: A talented and creative bucket-getter who was an impact player as a freshman in helping lead South Iron to a 23-4 record and a Class 1 district championship. He has deep shooting range from 3-point territory, but he also has creative handles which enable him to get his own shot with mid-range jumpers and floaters in the lane. He is very good at going in either direction with the ball in his hands.
Always Wright 5’11” Joplin: One of the top 3-point shooters in the sophomore class, Wright has range that extends well beyond the 3-point line. He is always moving without the basketball and he gets to the open spots and he’s ready to shoot with a quick release. He also has an effective one-dribble pull up jumper to combat defenders who close out on his aggressively.
Matt Enright 5’9″ Webster Groves: “Matty Ice” is a poised young lefty who plays with a fearless streak which enabled him to play key minutes as a freshman. He is a confident ball handler with deep shooting range on his 3-pointers. He has the ability to knock down several triples in a row when he has his game going.
Isaiah Rheames 5’10” Mexico: A slick lefty point guard who came in and made a big impact as a freshman starter. His handles are smooth and he has the ability to get into the lane on a consistent basis, yet he can also pull up and knock down perimeter jumpers off the dribble. He averaged better than 10 points a game as a freshman.
Tevin Gowins 5’7″ Hazelwood Central: The young pass-first point guard is a floor general supreme. He is small, but he is very poised and he knows how to operate a team and get the ball in the hands of all of the scorers where they are most effective. His handles are excellent and his court vision is very good, plus he can make an open 3-pointer. He will be at the controls of one of the state’s top Class 5 teams this season.
Duce Taylor 6’2″ DeSmet: One of the most athletic combo guards in the class, he can impact the game at both ends of the floor. His athleticism and length enables him to have a big defensive presence. He moves his feet well and he has great anticipation in the passing lanes. He is a slashing ball handler with a high basketball IQ and good passing skills.
Ramirez Taylor 5’11” Confluence Prep: A quick point guard who enjoyed an excellent summer with Carroll GoL1ve and led them to some impressive tournament performances. He has a good blend of speed and penetrating ability to go along with excellent 3-point shooting ability. Being able to do both makes him very difficult to defend.
A’justin Pearson 5’11” Lincoln Prep: An impressive young point guard who is ready to make an big impact as a sophomore this season. He is quick and he plays with excellent pace and thrives in the up-tempo game. He has quick hands on defense and can force turnovers in the full-court press. He attacks the basket well and finishes at the rim or he can drop it off to an open teammate with his court vision.
Kyle Bruce 5’8″ Blue Springs: One of the smallest players on this list, Bruce is a fearless point guard who lives in the lane with his quickness, strength and fearless style of play. He is a good finisher in the land of the trees with his pull up jumpers and floaters. He is also a solid 3-point shooter.
Casen Lawrence 5’10” Westminster: A confident young floor leader who stepped in and provided many quality minutes as a freshman. He has nice handles and a very good feel for the game. His court vision enables him to locate teammates for easy buckets and he is an excellent 3-point shooter.
Tresean White 5’11” Confluence Academy: A young point guard who has good physical strength combined with the speed and quickness to get into the lane whenever he wants to. His ability to blow by defenders is very good and he is a strong finisher at the rim.
Larry Abbey 5’9″ University City: A thick-bodied point guard who knows how to run a team and make his teammates better. He has slick handles and can operate in tight spaces with the ability to change speeds. He is a pinpoint passer who can deliver the ball from virtually anywhere on the court.
