Muller is a solid defender, runs the floor, and flashes the ability to play above the rim. We caught up with him to get the latest on his recruitment, but first we spoke about how June went with Porta and preview their upcoming season.
“June went well overall for our team. At the beginning of June we went up to Stagg High School for a two day shootout and we played well getting everyone playing time and still went 4-2 against some bigger competition. We have a really good core of guys for this year and the summer really helped us mesh well. We will have solid size this year with myself at 6’8” and four other guys 6’3”-6’4”. Really looking forward to playing in the Washington Invitational Thanksgiving Tournament.”
Muller spoke about the where he saw the most growth in his game during the summer.
“Definitely beginning in the spring playing my first year with the Illinois Irish. The program stresses to have an aggressive and leadership focused mindset. This then translated to my high school team and I feel I have the ability to raise myself and teammates to always play at the highest level.”
The senior power forward discussed the latest on his recruitment with PHI.
“I have four offers right now from Minnesota State, Missouri Southern State, Minnesota Duluth, and St. Cloud State. I unofficially visited Minnesota State in August and then plan on visiting Missouri Southern in October. Talking with Northwest Missouri, Southern Indiana, Lincoln Memorial University, McKendree, and Emporia State.”
What stood out about that Minnesota State visit?
“The coaching staff was very welcoming and they know what they are doing because they have the history to back it up. The facilities and community were very nice and it felt like a good college town environment.”
He also broke down Missouri Southern State where he will trip to in October.
“They have had a lot of success in the past few years and it looks like a good energy with the coaching staff and atmosphere.”
What is he going to be looking for in a school?
“A school that I feel comfortable in. I want to fit in with the coaching staff and players and to be surrounded by people who complement each other on the floor and then a school with good academics to pursue a degree.”
Muller is the #8 power forward and #47 overall player in the PHI 2020 Rankings.
