Moving On: Lincoln lost only five seniors from last year’s team but four of those players were starters. Nate Brecht, Jared Jaros, Grant Russell, and Zach Hanson have all moved on as has Nolan Ransom who played off the bench. Brecht is now playing baseball at Butler Community College, Jaros is at Dakota Wesleyan playing basketball, Grant Russell is at Dakota State playing basketball, and Zach Hanson is playing football at Northern State.
Returning Starter: One, Maxwell Burchill. Max is a 6-foot-4 big wing/guard that is ranked as a top 20 player in the state. Burchill was the third most reliable scorer for the Patriots at the end of the year and he did it physically going at the basket completing at the rim and often drawing fouls.
Reserves Playing a Bigger Role: Burchill and Tyler Hiatt give the Patriots a big pair of forwards that are experienced and physically able. Hiatt is like Burchill in that he’s a high percentage finisher going at the basket. Then in the backcourt, Sam Fawcett and Kesean Ladd are coming off excellent 17u seasons where both were named all state players. Ladd was the Patriot sixth man a year ago while Fawcett has played like an all-state caliber senior this off-season. Both look to have massive senior campaigns in the backcourt.
Potentials from the JV: The name to watch is Mitch Eichacker. Mitch is a strong, intelligent 6-foot-4 in the post who is intelligent as a player and physical in his approach. Mitch could be the perfect fit as a screen setter, rebounder, physical defender, and off ball mover. Caleb Hiatt is a sophomore to watch coming off a fantastic 15u year.
