The second element and the most important is that development and building future stars is the most vital part of the experience. In the 15u league of The Exclusive Las Vegas Tournament the crowd may have gotten a glimpse into nearby Arbor View High School’s future back court.
This up incoming year Arbor View will be celebrating their star guard Donovan Yap’s senior year. Everyone in the nation has really gotten a chance to see how great of a high school player Yap has been. When Yap goes on to college two young men will be waiting in the wings to be his incumbent Xavier Ornelas and D’Angelo Walker.
This weekend at The Exclusive 2019 tournament both young men showed potential to be future stars here in Las Vegas. As soon as 2022 hits it would not surprise me too see them as top prospects in the valley.
Xavier Ornelas Arbor View 2022- His nickname is X short for his first name. From what I seen the reason is because of his deadly crossover. The way he breaks ankles the guy guarding him may need an x-ray. Ornelas can score and score at will. Basketball is a game of pace. Just know if you are playing against Ornelas it’s his show you will just be in the story. Whether he’s slashing to the rim or pulling out and shooting it long range the kid can score. Last year as a freshman he came in and averaged 15 points per game. Ornelas had a late run in January for Arbor View’s freshman team that was insane in three straight games he scored 22, 22 and 29. Along with scoring Ornelas has a strong nose for defense averaging 2.9 steals along with his 15 point per game. This is a kid that will be destroying defenses for years to come on not just the AAU circuit but the high school one as well and he needs to be watched going forward.
D’Angelo Walker Arbor View 2022- Walker is another young man that knows how to score he’s a slasher with great shot selection. His FG% would be high because he knows how to get the shot that he wants and he’s able to create other opportunities. He has some streakiness to his game but the beauty of it is he has so much more time to develop. He is another young man who is strong defensively he averaged 2 steals per game for Arbor View his freshman last year. Walker is a student of the game and already displays a high IQ to diagnose plays. He’s a young man that plays the passing lane well and can get a team in and out of transition.
The two young men were the catalyst too Arbor View’s Freshman team’s stellar 21-2 record. They will be a strong part of their future going forward. So far they have really represented in the “The Exclusive 2019” tournament and the sky is the limit for them both.
