Raptors Elite/Q6 Showdown: Top Performers

<p>There was quite the competition at the Lake Brantley Fieldhouse on Saturday for the 1st annual Raptors Elite/Q6 Showdown.</p> <p>A full day of basketball was played between the three courts. With that, here's a look at some of the standouts on the day that caught my eye.</p> <h3><strong>David Green &amp; Mayoum Mayoum (1Family)</strong></h3> <p>1Family is a group that will get after it and wear you down with constant play in transition. Two players that stuck out for them were 2020 6'7" Ocoee forward <strong>David Green </strong>and 2020 6'3" Potter's House Christian guard <strong>Mayoum Mayoum. </strong>With offers from College of Charleston, St. Bonaventure, Lousiana Tech, UNF, Georgia Southern, Stetson and on Thursday both Appalachian State and Hofstra, Green's stock has blown up as of late and rightfully so. He's an impressive shooter who is not only a lengthy forward but a smart one at that. That was the best I had seen Mayoum play in quite some time as he was blazing fast, getting up on lay-ins and dunks and always look to push the ball down the floor whether as an attacker or passer. He has offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgetown, Stetson and Canisius as of now.</p> <h3><strong>Joshua Simons &amp; Jakeese Kemp (Tony Bradley Elite)</strong></h3> <p>Despite being undersized, Tony Bradley Elite has enough athletes and speed to keep up with most teams. 2020 6'4" Bartow forward <strong>Joshua Simons</strong> always makes things happen inside on putbacks, drives to the basket and rebounds. He is strong and not going to back down from anyone. As for 2020 6'2" McKeel guard <strong>Jakeese Kemp</strong>, he really impressed me with his effort level and mid-range touch. Kemp is going to mix it up on both ends of the floor and he can drive inside with his seasoned ballhandling.</p> <h3><strong>Jalen Cooper (Tampa BayHawks)</strong></h3> <p>On a long and high IQ Tampa BayHawks group, 2020 6'6" Anclote forward <strong>Jalen Cooper </strong>plays super hard. He was using his athleticism to his advantage and getting to good areas on the floor. Cooper's court awareness was all there as well in the win over Infinite Skillz. He had the game-sealing block in the closing seconds. With his scrappiness and room to add muscle to his upper body, there is no reason why Cooper shouldn't wind up as a low Division I/Division II prospect. He can get hot from outside, explaining his 41-point outing during his junior season at Anclote. Cooper has an offer from Palm Beach Atlantic.</p> <h3><strong>Kendall Bean (Q6 All-Stars)</strong></h3> <p>There has been a switch turned on for 2020 6'2" Spruce Creek guard <strong>Kendall Bean. </strong>Already a polished shooter (set an Atlantic school record last season with 10 3-pointers in a game) and a hard-nosed defender, he has shown off his willingness to attack and draw contact. Bean did that plenty on Saturday for Q6 and I expect him to have a huge year at his new stomping grounds at Spruce Creek. Bean is someone who will make college coaches very happy with his work ethic and overall toughness.</p> <h3><strong>Jaylen Williams (Team MOAM)</strong></h3> <p>The maturity and confidence of 2020 6'4" guard<strong> Jaylen Williams</strong> is always a joy to watch firsthand. Headed to Orlando Christian Prep on transfer from Liberty, the long and bruising athlete is the leader of the Team MOAM 17U group. Williams likes to create on his own and get past defenders with his combination of foot quickness and pure strength. He is a great fit at OCP where the Class 3A powerhouse already looks to be in regular season form. Williams has an offer from Bethune Cookman currently.</p> <h3><strong>Jamar Houston (Heart N' Hustle)</strong></h3> <p>There will be plenty of opportunities this upcoming season for 2022 6'0" guard <strong>Jamar Houston </strong>to make an impact for Class 2A reigning champions Central Florida Christian. A true athlete, the speedster makes dunking look easy and his effort level defensively is fun to watch. Houston is determined to chase down players in transition and block shots. He did that often for Heart N' Hustle 15U.
