LAWRENCE, Kan. — The 2019 Hardwood Classic wrapped up on Sunday at the Kansas Sports Pavilion with MoKan Elite 2021 defeating the Missouri Flight in the championships game.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the tournament’s most underrated forwards from the Missouri side.
35 — Daniel Abreu, 6’5, F, 2020, Willard, Missouri Flight
Abreu has taken his game to new heights this offseason earning several NCAA Division II offers as well as a recent offer from Jacksonville. He is known for his game in the high post, the baseline and his short face-up game, but has become a knock down 3-point shooter who has an inside-out game and the ability to score from all three levels. Abreu is coming off a big junior season at Willard and will be among the state’s top seniors in 2019-20.
32 — Tre Kemper, G/F, 2020, Mid-Mo ELite
Kemper is a wing player with good size and skill. He can take the ball coast-to-coast and has the ability to score at all three levels. Kemper can score from the outside, can handle the ball and create off the bounce but is also tough scoring the paint. He gets to the free throw line often and has the ability to put points on the board quickly.
4-Ahmed Mahgouh, 6’5, F, 2020, Oak Park, Yobo
Mahgouh is a long, wing player with a smooth game who handles the ball well, can create his own shot off the bounce and plays bigger than his listed height due to his frame. He can finish plays and even get up and around the rim. He has nice hops and gets up to secure rebounds on the defensive side.
Akoy Mangol, 6’7, G/F, 2020, North Kansas City, Carroll GoLive
Mangol is among the Kansas City area’s most underrated prospects and despite a thin frame, is capable of playing inside-out basketball. He is excellent in transition, runs the floor well and has a smooth handle and an emerging outside shot. He has some bounce around the basket and threw down several dunks throughout the weekend in Kansas City.
12 — David Oplotnik, 6’6, F, 2020, Fair Grove, Missouri Flight
Oplotnik has good size, length and athleticism and is a knock down outside shooter. He has terrific form, release and a quick trigger, able to get shots off especially in the mid range game. He runs the floor well and is a strong rebounder who uses his size well.
