Grant Hurst @PrepHoopsTN Summer Combine Recapture
Grant Hurst didn’t just make the most shots during the Summer Combine. Hurst fluttered the basketball into the center of the cylinder over and over and over. His shot dropped perfectly through frequently.

Spectacular shooter Hurst earned Co-MVP with Darwin Randolph.
Begin with a couple areas in need of improvement. Grant really improved his body in the last six months. He is very confident in space, but he has not demonstrated an eagerness to finish through contact. When he faces taller, better shot-blockers Hurst will be required to adjust mid-air and occasionally finish with the left hand. The combine didn’t require him or any guards to truly implement this advanced skill. As he adds more muscle and upper body strength, which he is already doing successfully, Hurst will benefit from embracing contact in the lane. It takes a new mentality for the finesse expert Grant Hurst. Sure, he doesn’t need to be clattering into every defender because that can shorten a career or limit your body health. Still, it would behoove him to be competent around bigs.
Fantastic shooter from every point on the floor. Extremely elite work ethic.
He is especially adept knocking down mid-range shots and off-the-dribble attempts. Mechanics are exceptional.
Less publicized strengths of Hurst include conditioning and handle. He doesn’t dribble all over the court, but his shifty, purposeful little dribbles set up his opportunities.
Hurst won co-MVP for the Summer Combine. Truthfully, he probably just outworked the competition in the last year+. Hurst is the consummate gym rat. He embraces the process of developing. Shooting drills are his bread and butter and this event showed off the hard work Grant put in.
