Below are some of the state’s guards on the rise in the 2021 class.
Dylan Wolf, 6’0, G, 2021, Topeka West
A smooth guard with nice handles and a good deal of confidence as a playmaker. He’s very strong with the ball and slashes well and can pull up and connect with the bounce. Also a strong defensive presence. A guy who sacrifices himself if it’s best for his team. He does the little things well.
Dawon Zenger, 6’1, G, 2021, Rock Creek
An all-around scorer and playmaker on the floor. Zenger has a great sense of the game as a guard. He is a smart player who looks to get shots in a variety of ways. He has a smooth jumper and plays well in open space and after the catch. He’s great with movement and finds others and gets buckets by staying active.
Tommy Dryer, 6’1, G, 2021, Shawnee Mission East
Dryer is a smart player with good handles and ball control. He can play either guard position and is good at selling fakes and dribbling around opponents or shooting jumpers. He has a good shot, but is also very unselfish with the ball. He lets the game come to him and does well on the ball as a defender.
Quinten Mason, 5’11, G, 2021, Olathe North
Known for his 3-point shot, Mason is a threat defenders can’t let get going from the start. He connects early and often and has proven himself to be counted on when the ball swings his way. He is great in corners and moves well with the ball in his hands. He plays big when he needs to and works hard on defense.
Charlie Sublette, 6’2, G, 20221, Shawnee Mission East
Another Shawnee Mission East player who runs the floor and puts everything he has into the game. He looks to play strong defense and can score in transition and shoot well from outside. A very coachable player who can play well as a slasher and shooter when he’s comfortable and confident and willing to put the ball on the floor.
