Prospect Update: Jayden Houston (2021)

A top prospect in Iowa's Class of 2021, Jayden Houston is in line for a monster junior season with Davenport North next winter.

The 6-foot-1 guard currently checks in as Iowa's 20th-ranked 2021, and has the potential to keep rising; especially with the work ethic that he pairs with an already impressive skill-set.

“I've been in the gym a lot just trying to improve all aspects of my game, shooting, dribbling all that stuff,” Houston said. “I just want to get better each and every day.”

Houston had one of the better sophomore seasons in the state last season. He averaged 10 points, 1.6 steals and 7.0 rebounds per game for the Wildcats. He'll be the team's returning leader in each category next season.

First, though, he'll have to get healthy.

Houston broke his tibia during Quad City Elite 16u's first tournament of the spring. The team has been playing well without him, but will surely improve if and when Houston returns this summer.

“We've been playing pretty well,” Houston said. “It's just a nice program in general, we have a lot of talent and the coaching staff is great. We always have each other's backs.”

Houston's optimistic that he can be back for the July tournaments.

“July should be a good month and I'm just hoping on making it back and improving as a player,” Houston said.

Recruitment: “I'm not worried too much on what coaches are looking at me or recruitment and stuff like that. I just want to come back and help my team out as much as I can, and be the best player I can be.”
