In an event filled with slashers, Davis Sallee stood out as a marskman. Sallee stands 6-foot-4 or 6-foot-5 with a smooth touch. He probably can score off the dribble pretty well, but his most dangerous skills Saturday appeared to be stop-and-pop shots. He projects as a better than average catch-and-shoot guy and while he needs to tack some muscle onto his frame he doesn’t fear contact like other tall, thin players.
Of the measurements, Sallee obviously posted an enticing height with and without shoes. Tall shooters are a wonderful commodity in the modern game. Even if Sallee’s defender closes out quickly they still have to get their hand up 7ish feet off the ground to Davis’ release point. Further, Davis Sallee possesses a larger than average hand size.
Several challenging drills witnessed Sallee putting the ball on the deck. While Davis might not be a burn-by-you dribbler, he definitely gets into his shot capably off one or two dribbles.
At this point in his development Sallee really isn’t smooth enough to be a complimentary ball-handler beyond high school varsity. His shooting touch and height, on the condition of an improved physique, could escort him onto a small school roster.
