We will be updating our Prep Hoops Missouri Class of 2020 rankings later this summer, but several players did an excellent job during the spring and will definitely see their names move up in the updated rankings.
Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2020 spring stock risers.
Ryan Kalkbrenner 7’0″ Mac Irvin Fire (Trinity): The tall and talented pivot has a very good first experience in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League as he led the circuit in shot blocking while posting solid numbers across the board and helping the Fire to a berth in the Peach Jam. He will most likely move into the Top 5 rankings in the state with his stellar play. He also earned a number of new Division I scholarship offers from mid-major and high major programs.
Terrell Kabala 6’1″ Victory Ministry Blue (Webb City): The thick-bodied point guard will make a significant jump after an excellent spring, where he displayed all-around offensive ability and explosive athleticism. He is also a team player as he loves to take offensive charges. He is also receiving a lot of Division I attention in football from several top programs.
Maricus Grant 6’2″ Marcus Denmon Elite (Battle): A physical point guard who is one of the best, if not the best on-ball defender in the state. He is strong and he moves his feet and he is relentless. I was most impressed with continued development on the offensive end. He was always good on the drive, but his passing and 3-point shooting has continued to emerge as well.
Daniel Abreu 6’5″ Missouri Flight (Willard): The versatile combo forward enjoyed a very strong junior campaign and he has followed up with some more excellent play during the spring. He plays virtually any position on the floor and also guards multiple positions on the defensive end.
Nate Garrett 6’5″ SW IL Jets (Hazelwood Central): Athletic wing player with size who has put together a nice string of performances during the summer with his ability to score. He is starting to emerge as a nice prospect as he heads into his senior year.
Kaimen Lennox 6’2″ Team KC Black (Truman): A very talented scoring point guard who was very good in the spring as he displayed his ability to facilitate and make his teammates better, but still showcase his ability to get buckets. He can play at different tempos to go along with his feathery shooting touch on floaters and perimeter jumpers.
Sergio McClain 6’4″ Gateway (Vashon): A solid wing player who is starting to emerge this spring with a number of excellent performances. His overall skill set has been on display with Gateway as he combines his skill and physical strength to be matchup problem.
Tayven Glasgow 6’3″ Team KC Gray (Lee’s Summit West): Thick bodied point guard who has a strong foundation of fundamentals. He makes his teammates better with his passing and overall skill set. He can power his way in the lane for buckets and knock down jumpers.
Gary Clark 6’7″ Team Ramey CCM (Cardinal Ritter): A long and lanky power forward who has been scoring and rebounding at a high level throughout spring, following up on an excellent high school season. He continues to stretch out his shooting range to compliment his post game.
Dez McKinney 6’0″ Marcus Denmon Elite (Raytown South): Excellent lead guard who has helped lead MDE to a couple of tournament championships. He has been relentless on the drive in getting to the basket, but he has been just a big a factor on the defensive end with his constant pressure and ball hawking.
