There are prospects all over the state that are gaining attention, but recently there was a group that started standing out the most. Take a look at the 7 prospects we think are on the rise.
JD Davison (Alabama Fusion)- How does the No. 1 player state player in his class raise the bar? Well, the 6’2 combo guard has been playing up with the 17U team and has played well. He’s not trying to do too much, and JD is picking his spots to attack very well. His ability to penetrate and vision have stood out. JD is also making plays defensively.
Josh Maston- Maston has bounced around this AAU season. Recently with the Alabama Generals, this kid exploded offensively. He has shown the ability to score at all 3 levels. This kid plays with confidence and shows no fear. Maston looks comfortable playing both on and off the ball.
Brodie Peebles (Pro One Select)- Peebles is making a push to be one of the best guards in his class. This kid is a gifted scorer and plays with a high IQ. The 6’2 combo guard heats up in a hurry, and he is a deceptive athlete. There is a reason Lipscomb recently offered the kid. Look for Peebles to continue improving and playing at a high level.
Jamon Reed (Alabama Celtics)- The 6’5 wing has made played on both ends of the floor. Reed is athletic and bouncy. This kid has shown the ability to score in bunches from all 3 levels. Reed’s most impressive aspect of his play has been his on ball defense. He needs to keep his aggressive play going for all 4 quarters, but this kid has been the Celtics best player on the 16U team.
Trinity Bell (Team Carroll)- Bell is showing why he is regarded as the best big in the 2021 class. The 6’7 forward is playing up on a 17U team. He rebounds at a high rate and impacts the game defensively with his athleticism and versatility. Bell needs to be more aggressive when he gets paint touches, but Team Carroll has to be pleased with his play thus far.
Riley Leonard (PCBC Stars)- Leonard is a 6’4 gamer. He can play either wing spot and he can score. This kid is just a natural leader and one of the best shooters in his class. Leonard is also an underrated athlete. There’s not much Leonard can’t do on the court. As the season continues, we expect MM level programs to track his performances.
Malcolm Carlisle (Alabama Generals)- Carlisle is a 6’2 combo guard who can flat out shoot. He has shown the ability to get hot in a hurry from deep. The way basketball is played today, shooting is a premium attribute. He’s more than a shooter though. Carlisle can score the ball. He won’t blow you away with his athleticism, but the kid is crafty.
