This weekend they will be playing in Kansas City. These prospects from the Lone Star State are ready to shine brightly on the stage set before them. The UAA has 12 of the Prep Hoops Texas Top 100 prospects playing on the circuit. The UAA has three teams which represent the state of Texas. The Under Armor Rise circuit is in it’s inaugural year and teams will play in their first session this weekend in Kansas City. Seven teams from Texas play in the UA-Rise circuit, which has 20 of the Prep Hoops Texas Top 100 prospects playing.
Houston Defenders have started out 3-1 in the UAA. There first loss of the entire Spring/Summer Season came to the hands of Atlanta Express. The Defenders look to make a run towards the UAA Finals and be crowned champions. With strong play from Eddie Lampkin leading the way with 17 points per game and 8 rebounds per game, they look to be on the right course.
Mudiay Elite is also out to a hot start to the UAA after going 3-1 in Session I. They were led by class of 2021 two guard Manny Obaseki who went to average 15 points per game, 3 assists per game, and shot 53% from the field. Mudiay Elite is in their second year on the UAA circuit and has already tied the win total from last season. They look to play the underdog role and clip teams who overlook them.
Texas Hardwork went 1-3 in the first session. They have a young core that is really solid and will be a load if they can all stay together next year. They were led by Keon Edwards from Pasadena, TX but attends Findlay Prep in Nevada. He averaged 17 points per game and 6 rebounds per game.
Now here are the UA-Rise teams that will be participating.
Cooz Elite who is not just a household name in the Greater Houston area but has a name that is respected in the southwest region of the United States. They will be led by the guard duo of Jahari Long and Rubin Jones. The X-Factor for them will be Nate Lacewell.
Texas Impact 4:13 is another top independent team that has been producing D1 talent. With the big man in the middle Jonathan Aku and lead guard play by sophomore Imo Essien. They will be a load and a team that most won’t have an answer for in the paint.
Dallas Showtyme is the current leaders of the Prep Hoops Grind Region as they sit #1 in the Power Rankings. A scrappy defensive team that thrives in the transition and looks to put you in the rim. Sadaidriene “DaDa” Hall is primed to have a big Spring/Summer season. Showtyme has been pumping out D1 prospects every year as an independent team.
Basketball Means More had a great run last season on the Adidas Gauntlet Silver division and earned honors to play in the Adidas Gold Championships at the end of the year. They lose a big-time prospect in Caleb Lohner who will play on the Nike Circuit but bring back a stud in Quevian Adger. He looks to carry his team and make some noise on the UA-Rise Circuit.
Lone Star Elite-Mustangs will be a match-up problem in the paint against many teams. Two physical imposers on the inside in Jalen Brattain and C.J. Kelley. They will make teams think twice about driving the lane.
Houston Defenders Rise will be ready to compete on the Rise Circuit. The Defenders capitalize off the prominence of the program and look to give other prospects an opportunity to play on a bigger stage than they normally would.
Houston Superstars have two young promising prospects who will lead the way for them in the UA-Rise Circuit. Sophomore wing Josh Farmer and freshman guard Chris Marshall. They look to open eyes and play spoiler against other teams who will be overlooking them.
