We checked in on a handful of games just to get our feet wet. Here are some notes from the event.
Jake Heidbreder – 6’4 SG 2021 – Floyd Central (IN) – Indiana Elite South 2021
Didn’t have his jumper the way he would like but still made plays on the offensive end. He was good on his drives playing well into the lane and showing off some athletic ability. His ball handling isn’t bad. Want to see at what level of competition he can create against. Better than you would think right now.
Langdon Hatton – 6’10 C 2021 – North Harrison (IN) – Indiana Elite South 2021
Good post finishing in this game. Thought he looked a bit quicker with his footwork and had a couple up-and-under finishes. So physically overpowering for others at this age and he takes advantage of it. His touch looked really solid at the rim and he’s got quite a bit of length to finish over the top. Might be close to done growing now but has plenty of size already as a sophomore.
Sean Black – 5’10 PG 2021 – Warren Central (IN) – Indiana Elite Central 2021
Sean has filled out the frame a bit and taken a step forward with his height as well. Still little undersized, he does posses more length now. He had a couple chase-down blocks and showed off some solid athletic ability. Hit a couple pull-up jumpers as well. His creation ability and offense seem to be coming around.
Zane Burke – 6’3 SG 2021 – Blackhawk Christian (IN) – Indiana Elite Central 2021
Looked locked in from the end of the season as his jumper was still falling. He’s so good off the dribble, able to get into the lane pretty easily. Really solid all around but has some upside because he can just do so much on offense right now. This could be a guy that continues an upward trajectory this summer.
Styles McCorkle – 6’5 SF 2021 – Greenwood Christian (IN) – Indiana Elite Force 2021
Styles is a tall forward with some mobility and driving ability. Had a nice drive into traffic that required a tough finish. H’es got decent footwork and can really get some separation at times. Kind of a do-it-all forward. Not a finished product and will take some polish but has that capability with time.
Kyle Crim – 5’11 PG 2021 – Morristown (IN) – GPP 2021 Black
Kyle has grown a bit and looks quite a bit better with the ball in his hands. He was driving to create not only on the pull-up but also in traffic. He’s best when he’s shooting and now has the ability to put the ball on the floor for pull-ups in the mid-range and beyond the arc. Capable of playing on the ball and when his frame fills out, he could be on elf the better scoring guards in the state.
Brody Whitaker – 6’2 SG 2021 – Greencastle (IN) – GPP 2021 Black
Brody didn’t have his jumper working like he probably wanted in the first half but did see him work more off the dribble and loved how he used his body and physicality to get space and entrance into the lane. He’s tough and doesn’t seem to cower to length so defenders need to be just as tough to stop him. He’s one of the more balanced scorers in the state in 2021 and you saw that more in the second half where he was able to shoot a bit more and still take guys off the dribble.
Trey Flatt – 5’11 PG 2021 – Covenant Christian (IN) – GPP 2021 Black
Trey is a bigger guard but has speed and shooting ability that make him really tough to stop. He’s really good off the catch but a handful of times he pulled the fake and put it on the deck with some success. His size and length might hurt him at the rim so using his body more to shield would go a long way for him. Do like how his body has developed and he’s got a ton of strength for his class already.
Austin Booker – 6’6 PF 2021 – Center Grove (IN) – Grind Premier 2021
Booker is a big forward with good mobility. He was solid in transition and has some athletic ability. Needs to develop more skill as he’s not a stretch yet but has the confidence to play there on the wing. Want to see how his jumper develops and if so, the mobility will really play up and he could be quite difficult to defend. Work in progress with some big upside.
Mason Gonzales – 6’0 PG 2021 – Franklin Central (IN) – Grind Premier 2021
Mason is a tough lead guard that can handle pressure well and is a really solid passer in the half court. He knows how to dribble with a purpose and can really create offense when he decides to shoot. He’s going to be good and could take his offense up a tick with time.
