Spring Combine Recapture: Malik Dia
Of all the PrepHoopsTN/AboveTheRimGym Spring Combine combine participants Malik Dia posseses the greatest potential.
Athleticism and size translate seamlessly at every level. Malik Dia is atheltic and probably grows into a tall college wing prospect.
Malik Dia is a natural scorer.Malik Dia, 6’4.5″ WG (Blackman) — 2022

- COLLEGE PROJECTION: Low Major.
Currently Malik Dia stands almost 6-5″ nearing the end of his freshman academic year. Unlike the masses of attending point guards Malik plays with a scoring wing’s mentality.
Malik’s willingness, perhaps eagerness is more apt, to shoot defines his game.
The Class of 2022 guard took many difficult shots. Though he made many, Dia’s imperative next step should be understanding shot selection.
Too often Dia took difficult shots early instead of involving teammates or circulating the basketball. When he develops an understanding of the difference between a good shot and a bad shot his efficiency will soar.
Malik Dia traversed the lane in decent times of 12.68 and 12.87. Dia’s speed is average but projects favorably with his plus balance and long strides.
Dia’s vertical jump of 32.5″ set the daily standard. Considering he was one of the tallest participants his agility came as a pleasant surprise.
The concerns with Malik are basketball comprehension and not size, speed, or talent. For this reason the day’s 5th best performer was the best prospect in attendance.
