Today, Clark is a rapidly improving 6’7″ forward whose overall game has grown just as much as his physical stature over the course of the past three years.
After a big junior season at Cardinal Ritter, Clark has emerged as one of the top forwards in an excellent Class of ’20 in the St. Louis area. At this point, he has received interest from a number of Division II programs, but he could also develop into an intriguing Division I prospect by the end of the summer. The three-year growth spurt during high school has also built up Clark’s confidence as well.
“I have a lot more confidence now,” Clark said. “When I was small, I didn’t have much confidence in myself. Everyone was bigger and stronger than me. As I grew, I got stronger and I was able to do a lot more things on the court.”
As a junior, Clark was one of the top players on a Ritter team that finished the season with a 20-8 record. He averaged 12.6 points and 10 rebounds a game while blocking 40 shots and shooting more than 60 percent from the field.
Clark also had some of his biggest games against some of the best team’s on the schedule. He had 21 points and nine rebounds in a victory over Soldan in the championship game of the Legends of Winter Christmas Tournament in December. He added 22 points and 12 rebounds in a road victory at Class 5 runner-up CBC and 21 points and 18 rebounds in a victory over Class 4 state runner-up St. Mary’s.
“I was able to stay focused, play hard and do everything that the coaches wanted me to do,” said Clark of his successful junior campaign.
Clark is spending the grassroots season playing for the Team Ramey CCM 17 team, where he looks to continue to expand his overall game.
“I want to improve on my ball handling for sure and become a better 3-point shooter,” he said. “We have a goal to win a state championship next season.”
