A throng of college coaches, including Mike Krzyzewski of Duke, Chris Mack of Louisville, Chris Holtman of Ohio State and many others were on hand for this one, which MoKan won 60-59 in a real thriller.
Here is a look at some of the Show-Me State prospects that were in Friday night’s game:
Caleb Love 6’3″ Brad Beal Elite: The standout combo guard from CBC displayed his all-around game with 23 points, four rebounds and five assists, including eight of 12 shooting from the field. He did a nice job of facilitating in the first half as he found open teammates, then he proceeded to get buckets in the second half, which is what he does best. He is a dangerous three-level scorer with excellent athleticism. He really comes in handy in the EYBL because of the use of the shot clock because he can get you a shot in a late-clock situation.
Luke Kasubke 6’6″ MoKan Elite: The Chaminade College Prep standout had 11 points and five rebounds in MoKan’s victory. An excellent perimeter shooter, Luke had an off-night shooting the 3-pointer, but he found points in other ways as he attacked the basket, got to the free throw line and also scored on a nice follow dunk in transition after running the court. He does a nice job of moving without the ball and coming off screens.
Cam’Ron Fletcher 6’7″ Brad Beal Elite: The Vashon High standout had eight points and a game-high seven rebounds. He displayed his explosive athletic ability with a couple of dunks in transition. He was most comfortable in this game shooting off the catch and running the court.
Dylan Branson 6’5″ MoKan Elite: The all-purpose guard from Mehlville scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds. The thick-bodied Branson is an excellent passer who repeatedly found open teammates. He had a big second half with eight of his 10 points, including a steal and layup and a big 3-pointer in the fourth quarter. He has a high basketball IQ and the versatility to play multiple positions comfortably.
Josh Wallace 6’6″ Brad Beal Elite: A CBC 2019 forward who will do a year of prep school next season, Wallace scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds. He plays with great energy and zeal at both ends of the court. I like how he attacks the offensive boards. He is undersized in the post, but he got things done despite playing against a pair of 7-footers for MoKan. He never cheats you in the effort department.
Davion Bradford 7’0″ MoKan Elite: The Mehlville standout came off the bench with four points and four rebounds. He played with a lot of energy and threw his considerable heft around the post at every opportunity. He posted up strong and had a very physical presence when he was out there. His best play of the day was a big slam dunk off a missed transition layup off an impressive rim-run.
Coban Porter 6’3″ MoKan Elite: The Father Tolton standout played a very solid game without making a lot of mistakes. He handled the ball well and made some nice passes. He made a big jumper with less than a minute to go in the came, coming off the screen and shooting with confidence. He plays a very poised game and keeps things calm and in order on the court.
