Nike EYBL AOT 1st Session Preview

<p><strong>Atlanta, Georgia</strong> - The Nike EYBL first session is finally here and the Lakepoint Sports Center, located in Emerson, Georgia, is honored to host the first session of the 2019 Nike EYBL season. The Lakepoint Sports Center is in it's third consecutive year hosting a Nike EYBL session and what a pleasure it has been for us media outlets in the state of Georgia. </p> <p>Georgia's own Athletes of Tomorrow Running Rebels, finished last year's EYBL regular season with an impressive 13-3 overall record and finishing the Nike Peach Jam with a 3-2 record. <strong>2020 PG Sharife Cooper</strong> of McEachern High School received the 2018 EYBL's top underclassmen award and was also named the Nike Peach Jam's Offensive Player award. </p> <p>The Running Rebels lose key pieces from last year's team but they do return two major pieces as well. Auburn commits Isaac Okoro and Babatunde Akingbola and Northwestern commit Jared Jones will be on their way to college this summer. That leaves junior prospects <strong>Brandon Boston Jr.</strong> and Sharife Cooper to lead the pack this year for AOT and a chance for a Nike EYBL title in July. </p> <p><strong>2020 SG Brandon Boston Jr.</strong> of Norcross High School is coming off his stock-rising junior season with Norcross and has now been considered a top-10 prospect nationally in his class. Boston averaged close to 20 points per game this year and led the Blue Devils to Georiga's class 7A final four and where they were eventually eliminated by Sharife Cooper and McEachern. </p> <p>The Rebels this year also add another key piece to their lineup as well and another Georgia native in <strong>2020 C Dylan Cardwell</strong> of Oak Hill Academy (VA). Cardwell is orginally from Evans, Georgia near Augusta and transferred to powerhouse Oak Hill Academy (VA) after his sophomore season at Evans High School. </p> <p>Junior forwards <strong>Eugene Brown III</strong> of Southwest Dekalb High School and <strong>Cam Bryant</strong> of Dutchtown High School will be playing up this spring, summer with AOT after running with their 16U squad last AAU season. Brown III is a very intriguing prospect and a player I have been bragging about since last year's AAU season. He is coming off an injury that kept him out most of his junior season but he should be in solid form to assist Boston Jr. and Cooper. </p> <p>Senior guards <strong>Quinton McElroy</strong> and <strong>Alyn Breed</strong> of McEachern High School will be looking to receive extra attention from college coaches during this year's live period alongside senior big man <strong>Issa Muhammad</strong> of Norcross High School. The Running Rebels will be playing four overall games in their first EYBL session this weekend at Lakepoint. </p> <p>Alabama Fusion (AL), Team WhyNot (CA), Oakland Soldiers (CA), and the Georgia Stars (GA) will be their four opponents this weekend at Lakepoint. Key matchups this weekend will include some crowd drawing individual matchups that include Sharife Cooper against Devin Askew and Brandon Boston Jr. against Jalen Green in a 2020 top-10 showdown on Sunday morning. AOT will be looking to go undefeated in their host state for the second year in a row.</p>
