West Regionial Finals: Players to Watch!

The Western region has matchups that fans are going to absolutely love but we want to take the time to look at some of the players from this region that you will want to keep an eye on as well. There are plenty of players that you may know already, and some that you may not, so let’s dive right in to highlight a few of those players.

Cox Mill HS Senior Guard Wendell Moore: The #1 prospect in the state that’s headed to be a part of ‘‘The Brotherhood’’ at Duke, he is one that you already know. However he will need to play some high level basketball if he hopes to lead his team to their third state championship, look for Moore to be aggressive to score the ball and make plays as they have a big time matchup on their hands.

Forest Hills HS Senior Guard Nas Tyson: His experience of playing in big games last season will be beneficial for his team without a doubt as he is a player who was on the squad that took home a state chip last year. Look for him to provide the leadership as well as some scoring as we know that he has a gift for putting the ball in the bucket.

Forest Hills Sophomore Jamylan Blakeney: Anytime you have a player his size that can impact the game on both ends of the floor, then he is one that you will want to keep an eye on. At 6’7 he can block shots, rebound, run the floor and finish plays above the rim which are all things that can change the momentum of a game.

Cox Mill HS Senior Forward Caleb Stone-Carrawell: He has always been a player that doesn’t necessarily had a ton of hype to his name but he has been one of the more consistent performer’s year in and year out. He rebounds the ball at a high rate and is a scorer that can put the ball in the bucket in multiple ways, using his size inside the paint as well as scoring from outside.

RJ Reynolds HS Senior Guard Mysta Goodloe: You have to like what he brings to the table from the guard spot, he has a nice IQ for the game and plays with a certain confidence that you love to see. His scoring ability is clear as he is averaging about 16 PPG but his rebounding may be the attribute that we like about him the most as he is pulling down 8 rebounds per game.

East Lincoln HS Senior Sidney Dollar: They say big time players show up in big time games, well looking at his stat line from their matchup with East Rutherford, it appears he showed up and showed out. 35 Points, 17 Rebounds and 6 assist were the numbers that the 6’5 senior put up to help lead his team to the regional championship.

West Charlotte HS Senior Forward Patrick Williams: He is a name that you know already and rightfully so as he is one of the more dominate players in the state of North Carolina. He can score the ball from multiple levels, rebound, block shots and he plays the game with a good amount of intensity, add in the fact that he’s 6’8 and he is a player that is a difficult matchup for anybody.

Southwest Guilford Senior Guards Kobe & Keyshaun Langley: The combo of these two presents a problem on a nightly basis, they both can impact the game in a variety of ways which includes scoring and assist. Kobe is coming off a big time game in their semi-final matchup with Charlotte Catholic as he went for 22 points, 7 Assist and 6 rebounds.

Bishop McGuinness Freshman Dawson Mcalhany: He had a solid showing the previous round, going for double figures in a close matchup with North Stanly. For him to have such an impact as a freshman in the playoffs can only be a positive and he will be one to keep an eye on to see if the performance adds to his confidence for the remainder of the season.
