The 6’5″ Mohammed came to the Springfield area as a much heralded transfer from Washington D.C., where he was a standout performer as a freshman at Archbishop Carroll High School and a grassroots standout for the Virginia-based Boo Williams program.
The brother of current Missouri state forward Kabir Mohammed, young Aminu proved to be better than advertised as he put up some eye-popping numbers en route to leading Greenwood to the Class 2 state championship. He scored 1,059 points and grabbed 541 rebounds in leading Greenwood to the Class 2 state championship, the school’s first since 1942. He averaged 35 points and 17 rebounds a game.
Some of his individual performances during the season were just incredible. Mohammed had 35 points and 23 rebounds in a victory over Plattsburg in the state semifinals. He averaged nearly 40 points and 19 rebounds in leading Greenwood to three victories and the championship of the Sparta Tournament.
A few other brilliant performances included a 44-point, 26 rebound outing against Marion C. Early and 43 points and 28 rebounds in a victory over Halfway.
