Division 2: Manning and Hankamp Predict the Quarterfinals

Boys basketball has advanced to the quarterfinal round of play, and with just eight teams remaining, everyone has eyes on a state championship. The Prep Hoops Michigan staff will give you key players to watch and predictions for each game. Ludington vs. Alma <h2>Zachary Manning</h2> Ludington key player- Joshua Laman (2019, F): Laman is a guy with a nice stroke, but I like his ability to use his big frame around the basket to get open looks. Alma key player- Drew Humm (2019, G): He may not be Alma's best player, but he is certainly a key player. He's a guy that can score when he needs to and rebounds very well. Prediction: Ludington <h2>Scott Hankamp</h2> Ludington key player- Brayden Porter (2020, PG): Porter is a tremendous 3 point shooter. He has very quick feet and good lateral movement. Porter tracks rebounds off the rim, allowing him to be strong on the glass for his size. Alma key player- Brec Alward (2019, PG): Alward is a very athletic multi sport star. He's possibly the most consistent scorer on the Alma team. Prediction: Alma Grand Rapids South Christian vs. Hudsonville Unity Christian <h2>Zachary Manning</h2> GR South Christian key player- Connor Kok (2019, G): He's a very good scorer who is very smart with the ball in his hands. . Hudsonville Unity Christian key player- Ryan Takens (2019, G): His jumper looks smooth, and his ability to make shots will be key in this game. Prediction: GR South Christian <h2>Scott Hankamp</h2> GR South Christian key player- Luke Schrotenboerr (2019, SF): Schrotenboerr plays with a team first mentality. He's an excellent defender and rebounder. Schrotenboerr has 3 point range and hits them at a high percentage. Hudsonville Unity Christian key player- TJ VanKoevering (2019, PF): VanKoevering is a strong rebounder anf a defensive post prescense. He's a star football and basketball player and is always a double-double threat. Prediction: Grand Rapids South Christian Haslett vs. River Rouge <h2>Zachary Manning</h2> Haslett key player- Mitchell Mowid (2019, G): He can step out and shoot it from deep, but I like his willingness to attack the basket. He's a strong finisher with both hands. River Rouge key player- Bralin Toney (2019, G): He's one of the best on-ball defenders in the state, and he's great at finding open teammates. Toney is a big time player for River Rouge. Prediction: River Rouge <h2>Scott Hankamp</h2> Haslett key player- Ty Andrades (2019, G): Andrades is a double digit scoring threat on a nightly basis. He helps create a potent backcourt and is a leader on a veteran squad. River Rouge key player- Legend Geeter (2021, F): Geeter is a game changing talent. He's outstqnding defensively and can guard multiple positions. Geeter is a good post passer and can score in a variety of ways. Prediction: River Rouge New Haven vs. Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy New Haven key player- Romeo Weems (2019, F): This was a pretty easy pick. He fills the stat sheet and is New Haven's best player. He needs to have a good game for them to win. HW Chandler Park Academy key player- Tyland Tate (2019, G/F): Tate is a very talented player who can knock down outside shots and battle down low. He rebounds at a high level and will have a huge impact on this game. Prediction: New Haven <h2>Scott Hankamp</h2> New Haven key player- Ronald Jeffery III (2019, G): Jeffery is a 1000 point scorer for New Haven. He's a scorer at heart who takes advantage of scoring opportunities. He's efficient with his shot and puts the team ahead of all else. HW Chandler Park Academy key player- Andre Bradford (2019, PG): Bradford is as quick as they come. He's an aggressive scoring point guard. Bradford can also draw the defense and dish the ball off for an assist. Prediction: New Haven
