Friday’s Games to Watch
Five games to watch during Friday's WIAA boy's basketball action...
Phillips (12-3) at Straftord (15-0)
Stratford puts its undefeated record on the line in a game in this Marawood crossover. Vaughn Breit (14.5 ppg) and the Tigers have a chance to boost their standing in the next Division 3 rankings with a win on Friday. Speaking of rankings, a victory for Phillips would most certainly bring them in the top 10 of the Division 4 rankings.
Arrowhead (12-3) at Waukesha West (13-2)
This game could decide the Classic Eight Conference. Arrowhead stomped West 88-60 at home in the first meeting. The duo of Carter Gilmore (19.9 ppg) and Tyler Gouin (19.8 ppg) have been outstanding this season for the Warhawks. Coming off a surprising loss to Muskego, the Wolverines look to rebound and take back sole possession of first place.
D.C. Everest (11-5) at Stevens Point (10-5)
SPASH wasn't expected to be sitting atop the Wisconsin Valley Conference this late in the season, yet here we are. Nolan Blair (15.3 ppg) and company have the Panthers with a half game lead over Merrill. Still in contention with a 4-4 conference record, D.C. Everest looks to tighten the race behind Zion Turner (21.5 ppg).
Fennimore (13-2) at Darlington (14-0)
Still unbeaten, Darlington has an 'X' on its back. Stryker Fitzsimons (16.1 ppg)and Carter Lancaster (15.1 ppg) have the Redbirds atop the SWAL. Sitting two games back, Fennimore will look to Reid Larson (18.5 ppg) and Adam Larson (17.9 ppg) to pull off the road upset.
Mountain Top Christian (8-3) at Faith Christian (13-1)
If Mountain Top Christian can pull out a road win, they'll move within a game of first place in the Indian Trails - Blue Conference. Sophomore guard Dustin Beauprey (37.5 ppg) is one of the state's best kept secrets. Led by Luke Thomas (19.0 ppg), Faith Christian enters Friday's contest with a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play.
