Ten Best: Clarkston vs. Oak Park

Ten Best: Clarkston vs. Oak Park

In the first half, Oak Park gave Clarkston all it could handle, but the second half was an entirely different story, as Clarkston was able to cruise to a 66-52 victory. Clarkston's Fletcher Loyer led all scorers with 20 points and Maliq Carr gave Oak Park 14 points and 12 rebounds. Here are the 10 best players I saw in the game.

Matt Nicholson 2020 (Clarkston)

The junior big man was great in this game. He collected 9 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks in the contest. He made life very hard for any Oak Park player that tried to come into the paint, and he made his presence felt on the offensive end with a few big dunks. There aren't many guys in the state that can matchup with him down low.

Fletcher Loyer 2022 (Clarkston)

As I mentioned before, Loyer led all scorers with 20 points. He collected most of those from the line, connecting on 11 free throws. He didn't just impact the game scoring the ball. He was also able to dish out eight assists and grab four rebounds. He's a solid guard that will only continue to grow.

Keegan Wasilk 2022 (Clarkston)

Nicholson and Loyer may have put up bigger numbers, but Wasilk was arguably the Wolves' best player in the game. He played a crucial role in breaking Oak Park's press and quietly put together a solid stat line. He finished the game with 13 points, five rebounds and four assists. He has a high basketball IQ and can be relied up to make plays when he needs to.

Maliq Carr 2020 (Oak Park)

Carr got off to a little bit of a slow start and appeared to be bothered by Nicholson's size, but he really settled in and finished with a solid outing. Carr ended the game with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while doing a solid job of protecting the paint. He's a Division 1 recruit for football and basketball.

Devonte Edwards 2020 (Oak Park)

Edwards was able to put together a solid game, collecting 13 points. He showed some range, knocking down two 3-pointers and made some nice passes to teammates for easy baskets. Defensively, Edwards came away with a bunch of steals, thanks to the Knights' aggressive press. Oak Park is a good team, and Edwards is a big reason why.

Eddie Edwards 2020 (Oak Park)

Like Devonte, Eddie Edwards also had a fairly productive game, pouring in 12 points to go along with four rebounds. He was able to knock down two 3-point jumpers and hit a couple of other nice jump shots. He's got a nice stroke from the outside and can make opposing teams pay if not guarded properly.

Desmond Mills-Bradley 2019 (Clarkston)

Mills-Bradley didn't score until the second half of the game, but he did some damage in the later stages of the contest, scoring 8 points. Mills-Bradley was solid on defense throughout the night and a key piece in breaking the Oak Park press. Like a lot of Clarkston's guards, Mills-Bradley has a high basketball IQ and doesn't make many mistakes.

Jake Jensen 2019 (Clarkston)

Jensen gave the Wolves some very solid minutes off of the bench, providing the team with 7 points and two rebounds. He is a solid shooter that can knock down open shots with consistency and isn't afraid to battle with bigger guys for rebounds. His scrappiness will be an asset for Clarkston.

Cole Donchez 2020 (Clarkston)

Donchez is a player every team would love to have, because he does the little things necessary to win. Throughout the game, he was playing solid defense, fighting for loose balls and grabbing rebounds. He finished the game with 6 points and two rebounds, but his effort really stood out.

Mike DePillo 2022 (Clarkston)

DePillo didn't play a ton of minutes, but when he was on the floor, he was making an impact. He finished the game with 3 points and four rebounds. He played valuable minutes off of the bench, giving starters a break from Oak Park's up-tempo style of play. He's only a freshman, so he's got a lot of time to develop. I think by the time he's a senior, he will be a consistent contributor for the Wolves.
