On New Years Eve we were able to catch this playoff preview match-up. Two UIL 6A schools were set to take the court. Cinco Ranch 18-3 (1-0) was taking on George Ranch 13-2 (2-0). Here is our synopsis and upshot of the game that took place.

As the game tipped off George Ranch came out with the quick bucket. Cinco Ranch answered with 9 straight points. Thomasson and Presley were going at it. Dalon also was in the mix early on in the game. Both teams were playing man to man defense the entire game. Cinco beat George on the offensive boards in this game. The defensive effort and shooting of the Longhorns ended up being too much for the Cougars.

1st

2nd

3rd

4th/Final

Cinco Ranch

16

26

35

52

George Ranch

16

36

47

68

Noah Thomasson 6'3 PG / 2019 / George Ranch

Controlled the offense the entire game. He got his teammates involved in the game early. finished with 5 assist for the game. Played solid defense. Fought through screens and closed out on the perimeter. He also brought down 6 rebounds in the game. Deceptive ball handler who got to the lane. Finished in the paint and also knocked down a trey ball. Only missed one free-throw all game going 3/4 from the line. Finished with 21 points in the game.

Dalon Dean 6'3 SG / 2019 / George Ranch

Teams who are looking for a shooter look no further. This young scrappy prospect also gets after it defensively. He crashed the boards and brought down 5 rebounds of his own. He has range and pulls from deep every time, I'm talking NBA range shooting. Good catch and shooter. Shoots in rhythm off the dribble also. Finished the game with 16 points shooting 4/10 from behind the arc.

Devin Davis 6'4 SF / 2019 / George Ranch

Devin knocked down a pair of trey balls. It was his defense and rebounding that sparked the team. Every where you look there he was getting in the mix. He was boxing out and crashing the boards. He pulled down 6 rebounds. He was altering shots with his long frame and athletic abilities. Came away with 2 blocks in the game. He tipped several passes as well. He finished with 10 points.

Stephen Woods 6'0 PG / 2021 / George Ranch

This young point guard played poised the entire game. He has quick lateral movements. It allowed him to keep his opponent in check defensively. Went 2/2 from behind the arc. He also came away with 3 steals. Finished the game with 10 points.

Jaron Presley 6'1 SG / 2019 / Cinco Ranch

The St. Mary's Commit had a really solid game. He was penetrating the lane and kicking it out. He was also finishing in the paint. Played solid on ball defense. He is a player that you have to close out on and quickly do so. He will light you up from deep. He shot 4/7 from behind the arc. Dished out a pair of assist. Controlled the tempo offensively pretty well all game long. Great catch and shoot player. Moves well with out the ball in his hands. finished the game with 23 points.

Andrew Adebo 6'4 WG / 2019 / Cinco Ranch

This prospect has a long wingspan. He is athletic and runs the floor well. Uses his athleticism to rebound. Pulled down 7 boards in the game. Active on the defensive side of the ball. Doesn't close out quick enough, but is a great presence inside the three point line. Plays solid offensively from the wing/perimeter and attacks the gaps. Finished the game with 8 points but shot 4/5 from the field, all shots were took inside the paint.

Derek Dickenscheidt 6'5 F / 2020 / Cinco Ranch

Derek is a 4 that can stretch the floor out for you offensively. Not your traditional back to the basket. Plays the short corner and corner trey spot well. He was able to get to the lane off of one-two dribbles from the perimeter. Finished around the rim and had 8 points in the game. He was active on the glass especially offensively. Brought down 9 rebounds, 5 of them were offensive boards.

You can see the recap highlight here.

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyUxUPxNHsw[/embed]
