Hustle Region Preview: NOC/MAP Elite
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hustle Region and here’s a look at NOC/MAP Elite out of California.
NOC/MAP Elite will have multiple teams in the 17U, 16U, and 15U divisions of the Hustle Region. They will be participating in the Bash in the Desert, Hustle in the Sun, and Hustle Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with director of operations and head coach Brian Couso.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
I started the program to teach fundamentals which were being neglected by AAU programs. We are celebrating our 21st year.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
To continue to grow in size, we went from 8 teams in 2017 to 11 teams in 2018. To continue to develop kids to play well in high school and beyond. We have had 81 players go on to play in college at some level and one made the NBA.
What is your program’s mission each year?
Our mission is to provide athletic opportunities to student athletes so they can achieve their academic and competitive goals. NOC/Map Elite Basketball Club fosters principles of sportsmanship, respect, fair play and athletic excellence.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
Jake Poling, Jailen Nichols, Jailen Overstreet
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
It’s well run, priced fair, good venues, outstanding support team ( I mean it, you guys do a great job of matching teams, organizational skills, etc) and solid competition.
