Hustle Region Preview: AZ Venom
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hustle Region and here’s a look at AZ Venom out of Arizona.
AZ Venom will have two teams in 16U division of the Hustle Region, one team named AZ Venom Black and the other named AZ Venom Red. They will be at the Battle in the Desert, Hustle in the Sun, and the Hustle Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with AZ Venom head coach Duron McNeal.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
We started our program in 2009 to give the youth in our area a chance to play competitive basketball and chance to make new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime, whether its the road trips to out of state tourneys or just hanging out over a long weekend playing the game they love.
What is the goal of your program for 2019? What is your program’s mission each year?
Our goals for 2019 and program mission each year is to continue to see each player improve as both players and young men and to put them in a position to be successful. Continue to put them in a position to be seen by scouts and coaches by putting them in events where that will happen.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
Players that I know will return to keep your eyes on are 2021 Shay Cain, 2021 Damon McNeal, 2021 Josh Fletcher, 2021 Mike Mcgehee, 2021 Sam Yeager.
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We chose the Prep Hoop Circuit for the great coverage you offer to all kids and programs. We have played in both Prep Hoops Bash in the Desert events the last 2 years and alot of our players have took part in your exposure camps Top 250 and the Battle in Bullhead.
