Gameday Match-Up: White Bear Lake vs Centennial
White Bear Lake at Centennial is tonight. One of the few games being played and a contest that we think could be a lot of fun. So, tonight we bring you the Gameday Match-Up on a Wednesday!
Projected Starters
PG: Isaac Tessier vs Riley Van Buskirk. Tessier does the job regularly as a lead guard and often times steps into that third scoring role for WBL. But with Schwartz out Tessier has boost his scoring to 16 a night. Van Buskirk lead his team in assists last year and with increased weapons around him he’s having an even better year. Plus scoring 11 a night.
SG: Carter Ehlers vs Ricky Eason. Ehlers is one of several WBL guards playing their role well for the Bears and with Schwartz out Ehlers has put double figures in the books three of the last four games. Eason, he’s one of the elite feet-set shooters in the metro. Ricky is scoring 13.6 a contest.
SF: Mathias Beck vs Carter Anderson. This is where not having Schwartz could hurt. Beck is a senior who scored eight against Superior but Anderson is a 6-foot-3/6-foot-4 guard with the size to do things near the basket but the skills and athletic ability to lead the team in scoring and rebounding while also handling the ball.
PF: Steven Kleist vs Matthew Wyffels. Wyffels and Kleist are both 6-foot-4 forwards that can play both the three and the four. Wyffels is a 15 point per game guy headed to Carleton who can post a double-double . Wyffels is the go to guy for Centennial around the basket and will likely spend time on Beckler. Kleist physically can battle Wyffels and WBL will need him and Beckler to limit Matthew.
C: Jeremy Beckler vs Cole Fernstermacher. Cole is a 6-foot-4 battler who may be needed at times to fight Beckler. Wyffels will likely spend more time on him but Centennial can’t afford to have their best frontcourt scorer on Beckler who averages 22 points and 11 rebounds a game. Centennial will need Cole and others to help Wyffels.
Bench: Brice Peters vs Jaxon Waldvogel. Peters and Waldvogel are guards off the bench (could start if the teams are starting a smaller line-up) that score about three times a game.
Final Note: Sam Schwartz has been out for WBL but yet the Bears are still winning. They even beat Mahtomedi without him. We don’t expect him to play tonight but of course we aren’t at WBL practices. Who wins tonight? If Schwartz still isn’t ready this could be a close game to the wire. One worth checking out. Centennial would love to knock WBL from the unbeatens.
