Continue ReadingThe halfway point in the high school season is here and we are looking to expand and reset our rankings for each class. We are working today on the class of 2020 and the position rankings with our group of power forwards. Here is what you need to know for these top flight prospects.
Overview:
The 2020 class has some depth issues with regards to talent and it really lies in the post positions. The Power Forward spots have the biggest issue and question marks as it does not have anyone ranked in the overall Top 30.
At the top you guys a hodgepodge of guys that just haven’t defined themselves yet and look like they could be close to a breakout, but haven’t done it yet. Guys like Charlie Peterson, Raymond Terry, Jeffrey Langston Jr., and Jylen Petty come to mind in that regard.
Then you have pretty established talent in Dillon Ware, Malek Edmonds, Keegan O’Neill, and Julien Hunter as guys that you know what you are getting. However, DI level talent, at least right now, isn’t there. Again, there are guys that could jump up but to this point, there hasn’t been much interest or production to justify it.
Where this group does excel is size. There is a ton of it with eight guys 6’7 or taller. In guys like Charlie Peterson, Malek Edmonds, Raymond Terry, and Julien Hunter, you have college-ready bodies, guys that you could plug in and physically they should be able to handle it.
New Additions:
There are three new faces that we have added in this update of the 2020 position rankings. Michael Scott, Dawson Eastes, and Kevin Figg are the three. Eastes looks like the guy that could end up being pretty coveted. He’s a guy with a strong body, the ability to shoot and stretch the floor, and has been very consistent in his production as an inside-out prospect. However, if Figg gets another couple inches, he’s such a productive player, he could be right up there.
Stock Risers:
As far as guys that have moved up, Jeffrey Langston Jr.,Jordan Walters, Will Geiger, and Anthony Neal are the standouts. Langston Jr. is the big one, moving up 34 spots this time around. He has been averaging 11 and 8 this season. He’s turned his potential into some production, however, he’s far from a finished product and could be one of the few guys that could jump into a whole new level this Spring.
