Team Rose Shootout: 2021 & 2022 Evals
In this article:
PrepHoopsIllinois covered all 12 games of the two day Team Rose Shootout over the weekend at Mt. Carmel High School. Mike Oliver and Jerrel Oliver run a great event with many of the top city and suburban teams in the Chicago area. We have evaluations on all the prospects in the house. This is our 2021 and 2022 Evaluations!
Class of 2021
F Ola Ajiboye (Von Steuben)
This 6’4” combo forward has a lot of upside and projection. He is long and angular with quick twitched ability. Like how he hits the glass using his second jump and is a shot blocking presence. Didn’t score much in their game, but continues to show long term potential especially if he grows.
SG Lorenzo Schatzel (Von Steuben)
This 5’11” shooting guard isn’t overly projectable, but the thick bodied wing gets stuff done. He hit a couple difficult layups along with a 15 foot jumper. He had 6 points.
PG Malik Williams (Farragut)
The Farragut 2021 point guard is a tiny lefty that stands at about 5’9”. He is an adequate passer, but is most effective as a spot up shooter. Williams scored 10 points in their game.
PF Derrick Clark (Farragut)
Clark is an undersized four man at about 6’4” that has a thick build. He is a quality area rebounder that can finish in the paint on dump off passes. Also connected on a baseline jumper.
PF Luke Moustakas (Brother Rice)
Moustakas is a 6’5” power forward that put himself on our radar with his play. Good size and strength. Clean release on his mid-range jumper and even stretched it out to three making a pair from beyond the arc. Average athlete that can rebound in his area. Face up four to track down the road. He had 11 points.
PG Bucky Irving (Hillcrest)
This sophomore guard is wired to score it! Aggressive speed in the open floor. He is in all-out attack mode going the length of the floor. With his strength at 5’10” he finishes well through contact despite his lack of height. Irving also hit a pair of threes on his way to 11 points. One of the top scoring point guards in the sophomore class.
SF Julius Rollins (Hillcrest)
Rollins put his name on our radar with his play at Team Rose. This 6’5” small forward has a lot of projectability. Quick around the hoop and is very bouncy. Got on the offensive glass for a put back and loose in transition for a finish there. Can defend the two through four spots. One to track. He had 8 points.
SG Isaiah Barnes (OPRF)
Not the best showing out of the top 10 sophomore. We are huge fans of this extremely projectable two guard. He had a monster jam for his only two points of the game.
PG Nick Owens (Curie)
Owens is a tiny point guard at 5’6” that can shoot the basketball. The speedy point guard hit two triples in the game for six points.
SG Phillip Berryhill (Curie)
Berryhill burst on our radar with his play. Very projectable wing with go go gadget long arms. Hit a pair of deep jumpers showing smooth form. Also had a tip in. Went for 7 points.
Class of 2022
SG Mikqwon Jones (Farragut)
Jones is a young shooting guard that has size at 6’5”. He is a decent athlete that can hit from mid-range. Only played limited minutes, but we can see some potential for development down the road.
