Continue ReadingEthan Lynch, an unsigned class of 2019 guard from Bishop Ireton, asserted himself down the stretch of his team’s 2-point win over Loyola Blakefield at the Charm City Challenge. After the game, Lynch offered his thoughts on his team’s overall performance, but also talked recruitment, goals, and much more.
PH: How would you evaluate the team’s performance?
EL: “I say a 6 out of 10. We gotta improve on some things, but overall we got the win so I think it was good.”
PH: How’d you guys get back into the game after getting down double digits late?
EL: “I think offensively we had to be really aggressive. We took too many jump shots in the first half, and we dug ourselves into a hole. I felt like we had to just take the ball to the basket, be aggressive, draw fouls, and get to the free throw line.”
PH: What’s your role this year? It looks like you were the go-to-guy down the stretch.
EL: “My role is whatever the coach needs me to be. If it’s to be that guy down the stretch, or to be that defender, that’s what I’m going to do. To the best of my ability.”
PH: What’s the most improved part of your overall game?
EL: “Probably my point guard skills. Cutting down on turnovers. I try to improve on passing the ball; putting guys in the best position to score.”
PH: How are your grades right now?
EL: “Right now I’ve got a 3.2, but I want to get it up.”
PH: What’s your recruitment like right now? Which schools are reaching out the most?
EL: “It’s open right now. I’m hearing from Navy and California University of Pennsylvania the most right now.”
PH: What are your goals?
EL: “For the season, just to get better, and play our best basketball in the playoffs. Individually, just being more of a leader this year. We lost a big piece in Darius (Hines) last year, he was more of our leader. Now I’m just looking to step into that role.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
EL: “I think I can bring toughness. I like to defend. I think a lot of coaches can look for that at the next level. At that level there are a lot of good players, and I’m just looking to do my part.”
