North Dakota Class B Teams of the Week – December 17-22
The season is young, but there have already been a number of teams with resume-boosting wins. There haven’t been too many surprises early in the season but with a wealth of talent spread all over the state, there seems to be quite a bit of parity among teams in a lot of the regions. With that in mind, there are always opportunities for good wins and strong weeks. Here are a couple teams that pieced together strong weeks:
Mandaree
The Mandaree Warriors are 8-0 on the season and won four games last week in convincing fashion, winning by an average of 18.8 points per game. Their best win was a 75-60 win at Trenton. The Warriors look like a legitimate contender in Region 8.
Nedrose
What a difference five days can make. Nedrose opened its season with a 27-point loss to Our Redeemer in the Velva Invitational. The Cardinals avenged that loss last week, beating the Knights 50-42. They also beat South Prairie 64-43.
Beulah
The Miners went through wholesale roster changes after going to the state tournament last season and they’ve played a tough schedule to start the season. That is already hardening them as the Miners have won three straight after season-opening losses to Bishop Ryan and Four Winds/Minnewaukan. Beulah beat Des Lacs Burlington Tuesday before destroying Heart River Thursday. The Miners wrapped up the week with an impressive 49-36 win over Carrington in the Jamestown Holiday Classic.
